Better Now than l ater
Alderman Charles Diltz
stated that while that was
the reasonable direction for
the city’s population to
expand, and "it would be
better to do it now than
later," with the deficits in
the utility department,
“can we afford it?”
None of the land is
within the present city lim-
its, Stams pointed out, "so
we’-re talking about water
and sewerage for the peo-
ple in the future.”
Newly-elected alderman
James Caldwell added that
“since no one is clamoring
for it, let’s not do it now .”
"If the school decides to
go out there, the school
can pay," added Stams.
"We are about to service
people who aren’t even
there.”
"Or might never be
there,” added Emil Yacek,
the other new councilman.
"I ’d like to put it jn, but
we don’t have the money
to pay for it,” summed up
