Spring flowers hailed in Smithville show
Despite the presence of a gillion

Honorable mentions in this
category were Mrs. Marvin
Mary Lee Remme, Chairman
of the 1985 Smithville Garden
Club Flower Show, displays the
first place, novice division, win-

Colorado Rd. and the site of the an-
nual show this year, was spectacu-
larly decked with flower
arrangements from over 80 en-
trants in the show. Mrs. T.E.
Remme served as show chairman
for the event.
According to Mrs. Lloyd Cur-
ry, club president, the show was
particularly meaningful this year
during the time the Smithville
Garden Club is celebrating the
founding of the club in February
1935.
The club is also planning a float
in the April 13 Jamboree parade
noting the Golden anniversary.
As usual, the show was divided
into flower arrangement competi-
tion and another portion where
members and non-members
showed samples benefitted by their
green thumbs.
Winners of the Tricolored rib-
bons (only former blue ribbon con-
tenders are eligible for this honor)
were named from each of the three
sections in Mrs. Walberg’s where
their handiworks were displayed.
The three first place winners
were Mrs. Lloyd Curry, Mrs.
W.L. Andrews and Mrs. J.D.
McBee. Second place winners
