from the Texas Veterans Land
Board (VLB). Bids will be opened
on April 25, 1995 at 1 p.m.
The catalogue, which contains
bidding instructions and a detailed
description of each tract, can be or-
dered by calling 1-800-252-VETS.
ever, eligible Texas veterans arc
limited to one land purchase in the
sale.
Located in 109 counties, the
tracts range in size from five to 160
acres. The tracts, known as Type 1
tracts, can be purchased with no
down payment. Bids arc restricted
to eligible Texas veterans.
The VLB will finance the entire
loan amount of all winning bids.
There is no limit on the amount
loaned or on the number of tracts
that an individual can bid on. How-
"Since these tracts have never
been offered for sale by the board,
this sale gives Texas veterans an
excellent opportunity to buy good
land with 100 percent financing,"
said Texas Land Commissioner
Garry Mauro who also is chairman
of the VLB.
Mauro noted that setting aside
new forfeitures exclusively for bids
from Texas veterans is a long-time
VLB policy.
"The Veterans Land Program is
part of a Texas tradition that goes
back to the days of the Republic of
Texas," Mauro said. "It's my belief
that Texas veterans should gel first
shot at any forfeited tracts."
Tracts not sold in the April sale
will be offered to both veterans and
non-veterans through local real
estate agents.
Texas veterans will receive a
7.64 percent interest rate with a 30-
year assumable fixed-rate loan. A
$25 non-refundablc fee for each bid
is required.
The sale will be by scaled bid
only, with a minimum bid set by the
board. All bids must be received by
April 25 at 1 p.m. Bidders need not
be present at the bid opening.

A WORD AND A PRAYER
John 3:6 ....."That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and
that which is born of the spirit is spirit"
Folks often say, "Get a life!" Jesus says to people who
don't live a spiritual life, "Get the other half and you'll
have a life!" Natural life without spirituals life can never
be totally full.
Merciful God, please help us to see that you Son, Jesus
Christ, is the key to a full life in body and spirit.
In His Name, Amen
