but it adheres quickly,” said
Waldrip.
A seal coat has been
applied to all roads across
the state and the country
for years and is “ a good
maintenance procedure,”
said Waldrip. The coat is a
preventive measure which
will help maintain roads
against weather and other
elements.
“We put up all standard
warning signs stating there
is work ahead,” said Wal-
drip. “We do want to alert
drivers. Our highest priority
in everything we do is to
promote safety.”
Farm-to-market roads
such as FM 2632 are often
much more narrow than
highways or town roads, so
often traffic must be filtered
through the construction
zone one lane at a time.
A few tips that Waldrip
highly recommended when
driving through a work
zone is to remain alert, do
not be distracted by a cell
phone, adhere to the speed
limit and take extra precau-
tions such as extending an
extra measure of courtesy
to other drivers, no tailgat-
ing, watching for construc-
tion workers and exercising
patience.
The road construction
may delay a driver’s trip, but
most of the time drivers will
again be on their way within
minutes, said Waldrip.
Other roads on Brown
County that received the
similar work are SH 279, FM
1689, FM 1849, FM 2125,
FM 2273, FM 2524 andFM
3021.
The area engineer told
Waldrip that the contractor
will be finished with Brown
County on Thursday, but
they will be back for road
striping in the near future.
With that in mind, drivers
should avoid crossing wet
pavement markings and
keep their distance if they
encounter a striping truck.
“Our primary goal is to get
everyone home safe,” said
Waldrip.
