The little Mermaid: An
Underwater Adventure’ opens
SPECIAL TO THE BULLETIN
news@ brownwoodbu lletin.com
Opening night for Brownwood High School’s fall production of The Little Mermaid: An
Underwater Adventure was held Monday.
The play, adapted to the stage by Larry Mathis, is based on the short story by Hans
Christian Anderson, and incorporates an elaborate, colorful set, including a triple video-
projected backdrop to simulate the sensation of being underwater.
“We’ve expanded on the video techniques we used in Peter Pan,” said Mathis. “It really
completes the set in terms of this underwater world where many parts of the story take
place.”
All showings will take place at the Dorothy McIntosh Fine Arts Center auditorium at
Brownwood High School. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. All perfor-
mance dates and times are listed below.
Show dates and times are at 7p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 7 p.m Thursday, Nov. 7, and final
day at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.

graders about future choices
SPECIAL TO THE BULLETIN
news@ brownwoodbu lletin.com
On Wednesday, Oct. 23, six Brownwood
High School Choices students visited East
Elementary to share with third-graders
about the variety of high school organiza-
tions and the many choices they have that
can affect their future.
Lynsey McCormick, East Elementary
School Counselor, is discussing life beyond
the third grade with the students in order
for them to begin thinking about their inter-
ests and strengths. BHS Choices students,
Abby Adams, Faith Bailey, Trey Fawcett,
Dylan Lewis, Matt Lewis, and Connor Vara
answered questions regarding their experi-
ences and spoke about how the decisions
and choices the third-graders make now can
affect the kind of student they will become
in high school.
“The high school students emphasized
the importance of hard work, making good
choices, and being involved,” said McCor-
mick. “The third-graders really enjoyed
hearing about all of the options that are
available to them as they get older.”
