DHanis Study Club
The D’Hanis Study Club
met February 19th at O.A.
Bersen’s home - 15 members
were present. O. A. treated us
to some great fruit crepes and
sausage rolls.
The business meeting con-
sisted of a discussion about
buying a bench and plants
for the D’Hanis High School
campus. Old business was the
report of our annual spaghetti
supper held on February 9th.
Thanks to everyone who made
it a great success!
The door prize was a beauti-
ful potted plant won by Leona
Koch.
Our program was presented
by Sandy Kunkel. She gave an
interesting presentation on
how to use antique doors in
home decorating.
The next meeting will be
hosted by Linda Cote at Esther
Nester’s home on March 19th.
LUCKY WINNER... Liz Martinez was the first name drawn
in Hondo-D’Hanis Rotary Club’s raffle. She won her choice
of a hunting rifle, iPad or flat screen TV. Proceeds from the
raffle will fund the club’s international project, assisting a
rehabilitation center in Acuna, Mexico.

NICE THANK YOU... Texas Garden Clubs, Inc., had a statewide project to provide daffodil
bulbs at the Governor’s Mansion. Funds donated provided 1000 bulbs for the grounds at
the State Capital. Hondo Garden Club’s (trio in foreground, from left) Lee Taylor, Elaine
Semmelmann and Ellen Stevens were among the more than 100 members of Texas Garden
Clubs, Inc., from all 10 districts in the state who accepted invitations to a tea Feb. 28 at the
Governor’s Mansion, extended as an expression of appreciation. The event was hosted by
Texas’ First Lady, Anita Perry. The weather was perfect and the food was wonderful. Mem-
bers were encouraged to tour the grounds and the mansion, and cameras were welcome.
