Southern Railroad Company will be
held at the company’s office at San-
dow, Texas, at 10 o'clock a. m.. Tues-
day, March 26th. 1929, for the pur-
pose of electing officers for the en-
suing year, receiving reports of such
officers and the transaction of such
other business as may come before
the meeting. All stockholders of
record may participate in this meet-
ing. The annual meeting of the
board of directors will be held Im-
mediately after adjournment of

city hall in Rockdale on Tuesday,
March 19, 1929. for the purpose of
nominating the following city offi-
cers lor City of Rockdale, and school
trustees for Rockdale Independent
School District:
In city election—One Alderman
from Ward No. 1. to succeed J. T.
Marrs, and one Alderman from
Ward No. 2 to succeed M. N. Strie-
ker.
In school trustee election—Three
school trustees to succeed Conn R.
Isaacs. W. B. Smith and EL B. Phil-
lips.
These elections shall be held un-
der and governed by the State laws
controlling primary elections, inso-
far as possible. All qualified white

Tanglewood, March 4.—This com-
munity was visited last, night by
what was at first thought would be
a good rain but turned out to be a
clearing norther, however, the show-
er will aid corn already planted in
coming up, some wont plant before j

is really here with the high winds

Bro. Broaddus filled his regular
appointment here Sunday night

played our boys on the home court.
Friday afternoon, the score being
14 to 7 in favor of Tanglewood. The
senior girls of Salty also were here
but our senior girls, having gone to
New Salem did not get to play. The
junior girls with two of Salty’s girls
played a game score 21 to 19 in favor
of Tanglewood girls. I failed to
learn about the game with New
Salem.
Tanglewood School News
Prof Jackson reports full attend-
ance at school this week. The pu-
pils all are happy and busy with
their studies. Mr. Jackson and the
boys' basketball team went to Oak
Hill where they enjoyed an interest-
ing game in which the scores were
32 to 9 in favor of Tanglewood.
The Literary meets Friday night
March 1. Subject for debate, "Re-
solved that the South was Justifi-
able in seceding from the Union.”
W, C. Jackson, president of the
American Desk Co., of Temple, Tex-
as, wife and little daughter, spent
Tuesday in Tanglewood guests of
his father and mother, Prof, and
Mrs. Jackson. While here he visited
the school and made a talk to his
father’s pupils on the subject of
success, which was enjoyed by the
teachers and pupils.
The Tanglewood girls’ basketball
team played Sharp on the Rockdale
court, the score was 14 to 12 in favor
of Tanglewood.
The school children were very
much surprised when they came to
school Thursday morning to be in-
formed that the coupe that was
parked at the school house Wednes-
day evening was waiting for Mr.
Jackson to come to perform a mar-
riage ceremony, which united in
marriage Henry Baker and Miss
Frankie Houston, of the Marlow
community. Mrs. Baker was Mr.
Jackson’s pupil two years at Marlow.

Watson Branch, March 5.—Misses
