Mrs. D. G. Latimer was hos-
tess to the Matinee Musical Xmas
meeting Saturday. Dec. IS. Hie
home was etfectively decorated
in Xmas colors and Santa Claus
was in evidence in every nook
and corner holding green and
red candles which was beautiful spend
and embued the whole party
with a Holiday spirit The cen-
ter piece for the dining table was
W. E. Gaither came home from
San Antonio Friday night and

the ciub. The program consisted

Hie hostess had asked for an
original Xmas wish which proved
to be loving toasts to herself,
whose charm has won for her
universal popularity. Mrs. Cof-
field assisted in serving a delight-
ful two course luncheon with
horns and Santa Claus for favors.
Club adjourned to meet January
8, 1916.

Just before noon today the fire
alarm took the fire boys to the
• old Frank Allen home on Wert
Cameron street, occupied by
Dolph Dunham, where sparks
from the rtue had set the shingles j
on fire. The fire was extinguish-1
ed after some hard and excellent
work by the hook and ladder do-1
partment and bucket brigade, the
house being beyond the reaefi oi
the hoae. The damage was con-
fined to a large hole in the roof.
This is an instance where the
proposed new chemical combi in*
tion fire engine would have come
in handy. This fire could have
been nipped in the bud with such
an equipment- ^

the lady soon be restored to her
family in good health.
The ladies of the Missionary
Society of the Methodist church
will have their social meeting
December 27. at the residence of
Mas. Van de Venter. It is
hoped that the ladies of the soci-
ety will respond as a whole,
bringing the Christmas spirit.
