Donnie Auvenshine 4
Dr. Donnie Auvenshine has some stories to tell
about his days at HPU. He was an active student
before graduating in 1975, and as the new dean of
HPU's School of Christian Studies, Auvenshine
will expect the same zeal and enthusiasm from his
students.

Old Main 11
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 8,
1984, a fire ignited in Old Main, the original
building on the Howard Payne campus. By 4:30
a.m., the historic structure was engulfed in flames
and would soon be considered a total loss. To-
day, 10 years later, we honor this magnificent
building.

Shawn Hughes 18
Unfortunately, no matter what the level, good
athletes who serve as good role models, let alone
witnesses for Christ, are few and far between.
However, if one looks long enough, a few can be
found. HPU starting catcher Shawn Hughes is
one of them.
