Profile Reflects EnrollmentHoward Payne College student en-
rollment continues to expand, reflect-
ing an increased interest in the
school's curriculum and campus atmo-
sphere.
A recent academic profile released
by the college shows that students
from 30 states and 15 foreign count-
ries are presently attending Howard
Payne.
This influx of full and part-time
students has provided the West
Texas Baptist college with a record
enrollment for 1972-73 of 1525 stu-
dents.
In addition, 50 percent of Howard
Payne's enrolling freshmen in the
fall of 1972 had just finished in the
top half of their high school grad-
uating classes.
This increase of top high school
graduates has been increasing al-
most one percent each year since
1968 according to the profile.
Word of mouth and emphasis on
student involvement have drawn anincreasing number of academically
superior students from as far away
as Florida, Pennsylvania, Washing-
ton and California. International stu-
dents have come from such distant
places as Japan, Chili, Ghana and
Hong Kong.
An interesting note considering
the high academic standards of this
private four-year college, is that
male students outnumber the females
by more than 100. There are 812
men students compared to 713 wo-
men. This trend has been in evi-
dence for several years according
to the profile.
Of course, two-thirds of the stu-
dent body reflect Howard Payne's
Baptist affiliation, but a large num-
ber of other religious groups are
represented on campus.
There are 78 of the Methodist
denomination, 39 Church of Christ,
21 Presbyterian and 245 of various
other faiths.
