The information keeps growing
in our office about large families
who have attended Howard Payne.
We are still interested to see which
family will have the largest num-
ber of exes.
If you have any information on
these families, please send them
on in to me or Miss Lena Vinson
in the alumni office.
The latest report is on the family
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Brooks of Bangs, who had seven
children, six grandchildren and
seven in-laws who attended or
graduated from the college.
The children of Mr. and Mrs.
Brooks who were here at one time
or another include:
Maude Brooks, now Mrs. Edgar
Owen of Bangs, who came to
Howard Payne in 1903.
Edgar Brooks, now a retired
postmaster in Eldorado, Tex.
Dr. Glynn Brooks, who entered
the HPC academy in 1909, grad-
uated from the junior college divi-
sion in 1912, received his senior
college degree in 1916 and served
as dean and teacher in the college
many years. Before his recent re-
tirement, he was dean of East Tex-
as Baptist College in Marshall.
Troy Brooks who graduated in
1917, a Baptist minister now serv-
ing under the Home Mission Board
in Prescott, Arizona.
Doyle Brooks, who graduated in
1917, now with the Civil Service
Commission in Dallas.
Jessie Brooks, now Mrs. Floyd
Sansom, Sr., of Garfield, Ark.
Roscoe Brooks, a twin to Jessie,
now distributor for a feed com-
pany in Brownwood.
Brooks grandchildren who at-
tended Howard Payne include
Morris and Mary Adelle Brooks
(Mrs. Harold) Austin, children of
Dr. Glynn Brooks; Frank and Mar-
garet Owen, children of Maude
Brooks Owen; Bruce Brooks, son
of Troy Brooks, and Floyd San-
som, Jr., son of Jessie Brooks San-
som.
In-laws of the two generations
of Brooks who attended Howard
Payne are Ellie Watkins (Mrs.
Glynn) Brooks, Edgar Owen, Edith
Baten (Mrs. Doyle) Brooks, Erin
Williams (Mrs. Roscoe) Brooks,
Floyd Sansom, Sr., Harold Austin

Thirty-four students completed
work for degrees at the close of
the fall semester in January. They
will receive their diplomas at com-
mencement exercises in May.

Memorial List Grows
Three more names have been
added to the memorial list of for-
mer Howard Payne students who
lost their lives in World War II,
announced Miss Lena Vinson,
alumni secretary.
They are John Bartlett Lamb,
Watters Lee Lamkin and Charles
S. Pierce, Jr.
Anyone knowing of other names
that should be included on the list
are asked by Miss Vinson to send
the information to the Link Editor,
Howard Payne.
"We want the list to be complete
when we prepare the bronze me-
morial plate for the Fountain of
Freedom, which has been dedicat-
ed in memory of these men," she
