Ensign John Wilford Wilson
(Class of '59) is a Navy pilot sta-
tioned at Jacksonville, Fla.
Dr. Harvey L. Johnson (Class of
'25) is a professor in the Depart-
ment of Spanish and Portugese in
the University of Indiana, Bloom-
ington, Ind.
Dan Lake Cummings, Jr., is a
ministerial student at Golden Gate
Baptist Seminary.
The alumni office has been noti-
fied of the death of the Rev. Frank
A. Tippen (Class of 1917).
The alumni office has learned
that Quinton S. Farley, who was at
HPC in the mid-1950's died of lue-
kemia in 1957. He was attending
Southwestern Seminary at the time
he became ill.

Dr. Loyd Corder of Atlanta, Ga.,
(Class of '39), secretary of the de-
partment of language ministries of
the Southern B a p t i s t Conven-
tion Home Mission Board, was
principal speaker for the final
Missionary Day of the school year
April 20 at New Orleans Baptist
Theological Seminary. A native of
New Mexico, Dr. Corder's area of
service has been with the Spanish-
speaking peoples of New Mexico
and Texas.
The Rev. Bobby G. Bryan (Class
of '55) and his wife, the former
Betty Sue Wilson, also an HPC ex-
student, 300 Seventh Street, Terrell,
Tex., are the parents of an adopted
son, Stephen Gene. The baby, born
November 16, 1960, in Seoul, Ko-
rea, arrived March 25 in Portland,
Ore., where Mrs. Bryan met him.
Rev. Bryan is pastor of Grace Tem-
ple Baptist Church in Terrell.
Lt. Col. Frank E. McCreary, Jr.,
(Class of '36), his wife and their
son, Frank Ill, after four years in
Hawaii, will return in July for an
assignment in Washington, D.C.
They will visit friends and relatives
in Brownwood in July. Frank Ill,
who graduates in June from Pun-
ahou School in Honolulu, has been
awarded a scholarship to Cornell
University, where he will enter the
engineering school in September.Roy Clyde Mathews (Class of '57)
is a candidate for a doctor's degree
to be awarded May 31 at com-
mencement exercises of the Kansas
City School of Osteopathy and
Surgery. He has been appointed to
intern at Stephens Park Hospital
in Dallas, where he will take up
his work in July.
Mathews is married to the for-
mer Joetta Davis of Kansas City,
Mo. The couple plans to spend the
month of June with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mathews of
Bangs.
The Rev. John M. Lance (Class of
'49), who has been pastor of the
Pine Lake Baptist Church of Pine
Lake, Ga., for the last five years,
is now pastor of the First Baptist
Church of Porterdale, Ga.
The Rev. Milton W. Bailey (Class
of '45) and his wife, the former
Rebalee Sharpley (Class of '45) are
living in Houston, where Rev. Bailey
in May is celebrating his ninth an-
niversary as pastor of the Meadow-
brook Baptist Church.
T. H. Harding (Class of '50) and
his wife, the former Wanda Patter-
son (Class of '49) who live in Cam-
belsville, Ky., are the parents of a
son, John David, born April 11.
J. W. Swink (Class of '60) and
his wife, the former Jo Helen Aly
(Class of '60), who live at 1630-C
Western, Amarillo, are the parents
of a daughter, Cheryl Jean, born
May 8.
Harroll Watkins (Class of '57)
and his twin brother, Carroll Wat-
kins (Class of '58), are making
names for themselves as teachers
in West Texas. Harroll Watkins,
who teaches science at Big Lake
in Reagan County High School, and
one of his students, John Werst,
are among 400 high school stu-
dents and teachers from over the
state who will be guests of the
West Texas Utilities Company for a
nuclear science symposium in Aus-
tin June 11-14 at the University of
Texas. Carroll Watkins, who has
just finished his fourth year as a
science teacher in Reagan County
Junior High School, will become
superintendent of the Lohn school
system in McCulloch County July 1.The Rev. Glenn E. Parson (Class
of '54) and his wife, the former
Bobbie Richardson (Class of '54),
are in Ellensburg, Wash., where
they live at 309 South Pine Street,
to start the only Southern Baptist
work in Kittitas County. Mrs. Par-
son is an approved state primary
training union worker. Glenn for-
merly was pastor of the Pines Bap-
tist Church in Spokane, Wash. The
couple has three children-Corinne,
aged 6; Harley Kevin, 2/2, and
Joni Jean, born Dec. 3, 1960.
Putting journalism on the map at
Stephen F. Austin High School in
Houston is an HPC graduate, Mrs.
Mary C. Brown, the former Mary
Cross (Class of '31). In a retreat in
April, the school's ROTC made Mrs.
Brown an honorary lieutenant
colonel of the Austin ROTC Battle-
group "for the co-operation, ser-
vice and interest Mrs. Brown has
given the ROTC . . . " Among the
projects of her journalism students
is a magazine, "New Frontiers,"
started in the spring of 1960 to ap-
pear twice a year. The magazine
began as a project suggested by
the Texas Education Agency, which
asked the Houston schools to con-
duct a pilot course in second-year
journalism. Austin High School was
selected because it had a strong
first-year course in the field.

Adopted a proposed 1961-62
budget of $1,408,369 for the fis-
cal year starting June 1.
Heard Sterling Hogan of Hous-
ton, chairman of the trustee build-
ing committee, report that his com-
mittee has approved tentative
plans for a men's residence hall
and is submitting an application
for a government loan to construct
the building, an action the board
had earlier approved.
Voted to award the contract for
the proposed new science building
to Guyler Construction Company of
Lampasas for $638,461 and au-
thorized the trustee finance com-
mittee to work out interim financing
for the building based on pledges
made to the building fund that are
