Word of Life is an inter-
denominational Church that has
been in Bastrop, since October,
1985. As a body of believers from
an array of Cristian backgrounds,
Word of Life is a fundamental, bib-
lically founded Church with em-
phasis on teaching and preaching
the Word of God without
denominational bias.
Our message has been and will
always be that Jesus Christ came
as the only begotten, born of a vir-
gin, lived a consecrated, immacu-
late, sinless life, died for the sins
of humanity, rose again on the third
day and is seated at the right hand
of the Father making intercession
for us. The Bible is the infallible
Word of God, all given by inspi-
ration of God and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof for correc-
tion, for instruction in righteous-
ness that the child of God may be
full grown, thoroughly furnished
unto all good works. We believe
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday,
today and forever.
It began at 2007 N. Main under
the pastorship of John L. Beard in
a rented, small church building,
where the Lord began to do great
things. A panto' program was
started where an innumerable num-
ber of families were helped. Word
of Life even supported several fa-
milies with all of their expenses and
utilities.

David Johnson,
at that time, Word of Life’s lov-
ing and giving has rivalled even
some of the larger and greater
churches, and agencies such as Hu-
man Resources would refer some
of the needy to Word of Life.
The Church has always been a
high supporter of family oriented,
Christ centered programs. Word of
Life supports such programs as
Austin Crisis Pregnancy Center,
American Fa nily AssociatiQn
(formerly Citizens Against Pornog-
raphy) and Bastrop Food Pantry.
It gives, as the Lord moves in
other areas, with contributions to
the needy around the world (Afri-
ca, Latin America, Mexico, Iran,
etc.). Word of Life is currently
supporting a full time missionary
to Iran, and other missionaries and
evangelists as the need arises.
In August of 1987 Word of Life
purchased 15 acres four miles east
on Highway 21. Austin Revival
Center Church donated their old
50 th anniversary to be observed
Taylorsville Assembly of God
near Red Rock will celebrate its
50th anniversary on July 23, accor-
ding to pastor Bob Pettis.
The 9:45 a.m. Sunday School
will be followed by a 10:45 a.m.
worship service with guest speaker
Rev. James K. Bridges,
superintendent of the North Texas
District Assemblies of God.
Special music will be provided by
guest singers.
A noon potluck dinner will be
followed by a 2:30 p.m. concert
with the Galileans, a prize winn-
ing singing group.
The concluding service will be
at 6:30 p.m.
The church is located on Hwy 86
near Red Rock. For more informa-
tion, call 398-2404.

building which was moved onto the
property. The first service was held
on Christmas 1987. We are in a
building program, as the building
has needed much repair, but God
has helped us. Through contribu-
tions, bake sales, pledges and car
washes, the Church is being remo-
deled and repaired.
Pastors Mike and Debbie Vega
took the pastorship in the last part
of December 1988. The Vegas
come from Austin and have 10
years of ministerial experience,
counseling and ministering to the
whole body of Christ.
We extend an invitation to fel-
lowship with us. Come see what
God is doing in Bastrop. God has
started a work for people who are
looking for a place to grow and ma-
ture in Christ, with freedom to
worship openly and exercise liberty
in Christ and learn to stand in
Christ.
