As an aid for Bastrop County voters who plan to cast ballots early in the March 13 party
primaries, the Bastrop Advertiser presents sample ballots for both Democratic and Repub-
lican contests. Ballots for many voters will differ in some details, however. Democratic
voters in commissioner Precincts 2 and 4 will see different candidates for county com-
missioner. Each voting precinct will also show different candidates for precinct chair-
man. No-excuse absentee voting takes place weekdays at the County Clerk’s office in the
Courthouse 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. County Clerk Shirley Wilhelm will also
open her office for early balloting 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 3. The last day
to cast early ballots is March 9.
Plea for conservatism
Dear Editor:
This letter is a plea to the voters
of Bastrop County to go to the polls
and cast a vote for a conservative,
common-sense approach to justice.
The following individuals are ex-
perienced, qualified candidates for
Judge. They will balance the rights
of crime victims and society as a
whole along with the rights of the
accused.
Judge Bill White—Court of
Criminal Appeals Place 3
Jeff Van Horn—Court of
Criminal Appeals Place 1
Coach Harris
disappoints
Dear Editor:
The Smithville High School
basketball team has just complet-
ed their first losing season in many
years.
Coach Bob Harris should be very
proud of himself. He has finally
succeeded in getting the basketball
team on the same level as his foot-
ball team.
Once again, congratulations,
Bob, on a job well done.
