To The Citizens and Gas
Patrons of Santa Anna...
On May 4, 1939 (he City Commission amended, the kus rate ordinance of the
City of Santa Anna so as to provide for $1.00 minimum charge to domestic consumers
regardless of how small an amount of gas might be used, and also provides for a charge
of 50c per M. for the first 10 M. cu. ft. and 45c per M. for the next 10 M. cu. ft.
«r
While the law requires that the utility shall be given notice of the intention of
a ( ity Commission to pass a rate ordinance the first notice we had of this ordinance was
after its passage accompanied by a copy of the same. This forces us unwillingly to raise
1 lie rates to this minimum charge for our patrons.
The Coleman Gas & Oil Company regrets that it is prohibited from furnishing
gas to the citizens of Santa Anna who have patronized it through these years at the same
rate as to the citizens of Coleman. The gas furnished the citizens of Coleman comes in
pipes Through the City of Santa'Anna; and for five years or more we have furnished gas
to the citizens of Coleman at 35c and expect to do so through the years to come.
We regret that circumstances are such that we are prohibited from exercising
out option of furnishing gas to the citizens of Santa Anna at the same price; but arc
prohibited from doing so by the above ordinance. We still look forward to the time when '
we' will be permitted to make a uniform rate to these two cities.
Respectfully,
Coleman Gas 8C Oil Co.
