MR SCARBOROUGH CAME TO
Coleman County, from Ballinger, on
August 15, 1916 and has been mayor

any oilier person and likely is the
oldest mayor In the State—in the
number of years in office.
* * *
BESIDES HIS MANY DUTIES AS
e city official—what with the WPA
program taking a lot of time—he
still has time to operate the Cole-
man Abstract Company. His part-
ner in the abstract business is Fred
Paddle lord.

Teeth of Mastodon
Found Near City
By J. G. Parker
J, G. Parker, farmer who resides
two miles east of Coleman, has dis-
covered what he believes to be the
teeth of a giant mastodon, or some
other pre-historlc animal.
At least, the petrified rock is
quite similar to a description of a
mastodon’s teeth as given in Web-
ster's dictionary. The same parallel
ridges with apparently little cement
In the interspaces are found In the
teeth brought to the city by Mr.
Pa rkcr.
He plans to present his find to
the Coleman County Museum.
Incidentally, the teeth were found
on the H. F Waldrop place, on the
bunk of a creek. Mr. Parker had
found what he thought to be a leg
bone of a large animal at the same
place two years ago.
Brain cavity In the skull of this
animal was as "big as a hat," said
Mr. Parker.
