Women’s Club met Tuesday, 7:30
at the Hotel Club Room for dinner.
Minutes of the previou s meeting
were read by Mrs. Callie Layton.
The president, Mrs. Ina Mae Gilliam
presided and gave a brief talk on,
"Women, Wiry They Work”. She
also gave some Interesting statistics,
one of which was that only eight
Women out of every one hundred
worked because they are interested
in their jobs, She urged members
to study their jobs, but take part
in church, civic and social life of
your community.
Mr. L. A. Crenshaw, guest speaker
gave a very informative talk on,
“Career Advancement” and “Co-
operating with the U. S. E. S.”
Miss Bernice Johnson was given
a vote of thanks for her work in
makirig the Year Books a success.
The membership committee was
also given a vote of thanks for their
100 o/o renewal in membership.
■The club no* has 35 members and
two new ones, Mrs. Jane Cobb and
Miss Drucilla Eberhardt were add-
ed.
Mrs. Nell Dunn had charge of the
table decorations. She used a

fern,
ivy and marigolds centered the U
shaped tabic with ivy extending the
full length down the center of each
table. Places were laid for twenty-
nine members an dthree guest, Mr.

The Shakespeare Chib held its In-
itial meeting of the year when It
met in the City Library on Tuesday.
Mrs. Hunter Woodruff, retiring
president, called the meeting to or-
der, and Mr E. B. Blackwell led
the group in the pledge of alleg-
iance to the flag. Minutes of the
last meeting were read, by the sec-
retary and approved by the club.
Retiring officers made reports
and received a rising vot| pf appre-
ciation from the mempers. Mrs.
Woodruff expressed her gratitude to
the membership for its fine cooper-
