At Home In Austin
Austin and other towns In
Texas mourn the loss of a
great humanitarian, Rudolph
Svadlenak, who died at his
home in Austin Saturday
morning at 2 o clock.
Services were held at the
family home, 1601 Watchhill
Road, Sunday afternoon, con-
ducted by Rev. Jack Lewis.
Interment was in the Memo-
rial Park Cemetery. Active
pallbearers were: Allen Lesl
kar, Marvin Lesikar, Ernest
Krenek, Stanley Kacir, J.
Warren Skrabanek, Eugene
| Schneider.

Freer Buckaroos last fall, has
been named head coach of the
Taft Greyhounds, it has been
announced by Principal D. L.
Woodson, who will become super-
intendent of Taft Public Schools
this rail.
Petty will he assisted by W. M.
Nance, now on the coaching staff
of Kingsville Hl«h School.
Petty has a varied coaching:
career behind him, Including some
experience while In the Mailne
Corps during the war. He attend-

Is now conducting spring football
at Freer. Neither of the new
Taft coaches will report here
before fall.
Nance was a basketball star at
Texas A&l for three years, two of
which he was captain of the
Javellr.as He was In the physical
training program of the Army Air
Corps during the war and coached
several strong teams at Miami
Beach. Fla., the Harlingen Army
Air Field, and at various Army
fields near San Ant-mio.
Petti- and Nance succeed Grady
Reynolds, head coach, and Jack
Saohse, assistant, who have re-
! signed. Their plans for the future
has not as yet been announced.
Mien H. Putin, employed by
Cage Implement Company for the
past six months, recently resigned
his position to take charge of !he
genera! merchandise store at Sod-
ville owned by his father. W. A.
Pun:!, who Is retiring after operat-
ing the store for about SO years.
In years past, the elder Mr punn
ulso operated a gin at Sodville.

Mother, 79, Dies
Sunday Afternoon

B. N. Tutt. here Sunday after-
noon. Mrs. Davis, who divided
her time for the last several
years between Taft and IJherly.
Mo., where she had relatives, had
been here since last November.
The body was token by Cage
Funeral Home of Taft tn San An-
tonio .Monday morning for trans-
fer lo f-iberty, Mo, Funeral ser-
vices were held at the Carder
Funeral Homs at Dlberty at 10
o’clock Wednesday moruluig, and
burial was in the family plot in
Collar Cemetery near the town of
Pawn, M- . at 2 o'clock ’Wednes-
day afternoon.
Mrs. Davis is survived by one

A. Davis of Liberty, Mo.; two
sisters. Aim. D. J. Evan* of Pusa
denn, Calif., a-d Mrs. R. V. Har-

The Taft Junior Woman's Club
is again sponsoring a fund raising
drive to finance their free clinic
for Latln-Arnerlcan and colored
children. All money donated will
be used by th^ club ho carry on
tbelr outstanding work in this
field. This club haa received
state wide recognition for their
project. At the State Convention
of tlve Texas Federation of Wo-
men's Clubs last spring this pro-
ject of supplying immunizations
and vaccinal ions, am! medical
care for these chiRIreni was judged
the best and most worthwhile
project of any of the clubs in the
entire state.
For several years, the Taft
Junior Woman's Club has spon-
sored this project and individual
members have given their time IV>
carry on the work: and now the
members solicit financial help
from the members of the commu-
nity interested In the welfare of
our town to assure the carrying
on of this vrfork.

Holds Annual Meeting
At Presbyterin Church
The Woman'* Auxiliary of the
Fir»t Presbyterian Church met
March lsth in the church for
their annual meeting. A regular
business meeting was held at
which time all officers gave their
annual reports. Rev. K. J. Mor-
gan gave an irispiiutinaal address
