Mrs. Thomson opened the pro-
gram as she gave the definitions,
characteristics, and uses of var-
ious types of alloys. Special em-
phasis was placed upon Molyb-
denum, which, due to its high
melting point of 2620 degrees
Farenheit, is fast becoming very
important in the manufacture of
jet engines, and which Is also
used in deep oil well drilling.
Mrs. Thomson concluded her
remarks as she informed! the
group that the Climax Colorado
Mines are the chief source of
this major alloy. The attending
group included Mmes. T. J. Al-
len, Fred Croom, Chris Hardin,
Horne, George McNamara, Jes-
sie Martin, J. A. B. Miller, B. A.
Nance, V. M. Sheffield, T. L.
Stevens, C. H. Taylor, and
Thomson.

Culture Club was under the
direction of Mrs. E. K. Thom-
son, who chose as her" subject,
"Alloys.”
Members met at 4 o’clock Fri-
day afternoon- in the City Lib-
rary with Mrs. Arthur Horne,
vice-president, presiding in the
absence of the president, Miss
Jessie Woodward.
The roll call was answered by
V. M. Sheffield were co-host-
esses Monday afternoon when
members of the First Christian
Church’s Opportunity Class met
at 3 o'clock in .the home of,' Mrs.
Macon Freeman.
'Proceedings were called to
order by Mrs.' Will Downs, pre-
sident, who also presided during
! the brief business session. Dur-
i ing same, the committee reports
were heard, and plans were made
j by members to aid in the home
j mission work of the church.
Mrs. W. L. Jennings led the
ladies in the opening pyayer, and
the devotional which followed
was presented bv. Mrs Myron
Close, who took her text from
the hymn, ‘ What A Friend We
Have In Jesus.”
The meeting was closed with
the Mizpah benediction. During
the social hour which followed,
an advertisement quiz was con-
ducted by the hostesses, with
Mrs. C, A.,- Freeman and Mrs.

on an hourly, daily or weekly basis. Supervising
attendant will be Mrs. Jo Nixon, who has had
government training for this type of work. Ad-
