Governor Urges
Strong Vote In
Tuesday Election
Governor John Connally warn-
ed (his week that 707 aged
residents of Coleman County will
have their medical benefits jeo-
pardized if Constitutional A-
mendment No.' 3 fails to win
passage in the November 2
election.
Dufifig the past year, $158,997
was expended on behalf of these
needy aged in this county. Gov-
ernor Connally urged all Texans
to support and vote for this cru-
cial amendment.
Governor Connally also endor;
sed Amendment No. 4 which ex-
tends the two-year terms of
statewide officials to four years.
"Texas is one of the few re-
maining states which has not
enacted this far-sighted and effi-
cient legislation,’’ Governor
Connally said.
The governor warned against
voter apathy. He pointed out that
only 665 voters in this county
went to the polls last month in
another Constitutional Amend-
ment election.
Governor Connally emphasized
that absentee voting had already
started and would continue
through October 29 He asked all
voters who will be away from
their homes on election day to
vote absentee.
A total of 10 proposed amend
ments to the Constitution will
be on the November 2 ballot.
Halloween Party
Entertains Cub

Cub Scouts of Den 2, Pack 26,
were entertained Monday after-
noon at the scout house with a
surprise Halloween party. Hos-
tesses were den mothers, Mrs.
Don Hart and Mrs. Barney Rans-

The scout house was decorated
in Halloween theme, fea-

witches, and crepe paper stream-

apples, pin the nose on the jack-

Prizes consisted of apples, candy,
and parafin lips. A mystery
table, which contained Hallo-

gathering game.
The meeting was opened with
a candle lighting ceremony con-
ducted by Andy Hart, denner,
and Lyn Morgan, assistant den-
ner. The boys then repeated the
Pledge of Allegiance in unison
and answered roll call with rid-
dles.
Refreshments of cold drinks
and cup cakes were served by
den mothers. The cup cakes were
made by Mrs. Ransberger and
decorated with Halloween fig-
ures. Favors of parafin whistles
and suckers were sent by Mrs.
Aubrey Morgan.
As a closing ceremony the boys
sang a song and repeated a
thought concerning being nice in
every day living.
Those present were Ricky
Bates, Billy Myers, Kennon Me-
Dorman, Mark Jenkins, Lyn Mor-
gan, Barry Ransberger, Andy
Hart, Lesa Hart, Sue Ellen Rans-
