able performance turned in by a
(earn during the tourney was
that, of,the Roadrunners, The
speedy softballers upset the
, league champion Styx twice
during tourney play, besting
the powerhouse 16 9 on-Mon
day night and 13 10 again on
Thursday to eliminate the title
holders. They were forced to
play seven games during the
three nights, to include three
contests , in a row the final
evening. To get to the
championship game and meet
the Stars, the Roadrunners had
to dispose of a tough Anthony's

of Coleman Junior High School
band have just returned from a
week at camp at Abilene
Christian UDiversity campus
where they received instruc
tion from the top directors
picked from across the state.
Attending were twirlers
DeAnn Roberts, Natalie -flu
Uerrez, Bonnie Benjamin, and.
drum major Juaiuta Diaz.
The students received exten
sive instruction in band, twirl
mg and drum majoring and
reported they had . a very grxxi
time. The ACC camp is
considered one of the best in
the state.
The week concluded with a
concert in Moody Coliseum on
Friday night.

effort was put forth bv the
Rangers, who finished near
the cellar in league play this
season. The quiet, but deter
mined team was losers
by a nose to the tourney
champs, the Stars, 12 11 on
Monday. On Wednesday, they
upset the highly regarded
Coca Cola squad, 14 5, thus
eliminating the second place
finishers during the regular
campaign. Tuesday evening,
they neatly disposed of the
Ho. kets 20 5. On Thursday
night, the pesk)*Rangers were
whipping the highly heralded
Styx 9 1 through four innings
before the roof caved in and the
league champions scored 17
runs in three innings to thwart
their upset bid.
