Brownie Troop
Has Valentine
Party Feb. 8
Brownie Troop 61 met
Thursday. February 8 at 4 p.m.
at the Teen Center for their
regular weekly meeting. Guest
of the uooff fqr the meeting
was Benny Allcorn of Stevens
Funeral Homb who presented a
program on first aid. He
pointed out means by which the
girls could prevent accidents at
home and demonstrated the
proper way to treat wounds,
scrapes, cuts, etc.
The girls then had their
Valentine party during which
they exchanged cards with
their secret pal. Cookies and
punch were served to the girls
and Lucy Diaz, assistant leader,
made Valentine cupcakes for
each girl. Nancy Downey made
homemade cinnamon flavored
suckers for each girl.
Each girl in the troop also
received her official member
ship card during the meeting.
Girls who registered late in the
school year will receive them
later.
Present for the meeting were

CORRECTION
Garland Abbey was the
breeder of the lightweight
Polled Hereford with which
Kelly Smith won second place
at the Fort Worth Fat Stock
Show. In the story in last
Tuesday’s paper Jim Gill was
listed as breeder. Our apologies
to all concerned.

of Indianapolis, Indiana; Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Byerly, Brad and
Bruce of Waco, and Mr. and
Mrs. George Byerly, Chet' and
Marc of Pecos.

At Brownwood
The agenda is set for the
meeting of Coleman City
Council to be held Thursday at
5:30 p.m. at City Hall. Bids will
be received on three items and
three new items of business will
be discussed. Bids will be
received on (1) one truck for the
Garbage Department; (2) one
packer for the Garbage Depart-
ment; and (3) generating
equipment for the Light Pro-
duction Department, all as per
specifications.
Under new business' the
Council will:
1. Consider passage of

Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Stoup over the weekend were
Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Lindsey,
Dari Dwayne, and Robert Dale
of Lubbock, and Malvina Stoup
of Brownwood.
Miss Allyson Jackson, 18,
senior student at Brownwood
High School and daughter of
former Coleman residents, Mr.
i.nd Mrs. Wesley Jackson, has
lieen named to Who’s Who
among American High School
Students. She is the grand-
daughter of Mrs. Kay Glasson
and Mrs. Vera Jackson, both of
Coleman.
AUyson, whose picture ap-
pears in the 1977-78 edition of
Who's Who, was selected for
this honor when she was a
junior student. Her honors and
activities include class repre-
sentative, choir member, honor
roll. National Junior Honor
Society, Student Council, year-
book, FHA, cheerleader, track,
drill team captain. A member of
St. John’s Episcopal Church,
she plans to study speech
therapy.
More than 20,000 public and
private schools are invited to
select Who's Who nominees
each year. Qualities sought are
leadership abilities, community
service, and at least a B
average.
Resolution No. 79 2 authorizing
the State Department of
Highways and Public Transpor
tation to maintain all signs and
warning devices at railroad
grade crossings within the
limits of the City of Coleman.
There will be no cost to the
City.
2. Consider passage of
Ordinance No. 796 on first
reading amending Ordinance
No. 790 which estabUshed the
“Legal Fee” to protect the
water rights of Lake Coleman.
The City is now collecting .15c
per one thousand gallons of
water used and will revise the
Ordinance to aUow a reduction
of the .15c when the fuU "Legal
Fee" is»not needed. (Note: The
Legal Fee is used for the sole
purpose in defense of a legal
suit filed by Brown County
Water District No. 1 claiming
prior rights lo aU water in Lake
Coleman.)
3. Consider a request from
the Coleman Water Supply
Corporation to purchase a lot
forty feet by sixty feet (40’ x
60 ) out of the southwest part of
E. T. and R.R. Survey No. 41.
Property is west of Castleberry
Meat Plant facing U. S,
Highway 84 and will be used by
the Coleman Water Supply
Corporation to build a pump
house and water storage tank.
Resolution No. 79-3 supporting
the approved action will be
presented for passage.
Texas Agricultural Extension
Service. The Texas A&M
University System.
