LARGE W HEAT SUPPLIES
LEAD TO SET ASIDE
PROGRAM
Due to large w heat supplies
in the ITS., the USDA has
announced a set aside program
to trim production. Even with
the acreage cut back, wheat
prices will not improve much
this fall unless crop problems
develop in other parts of the
world, notes a grain marketing
specialist with the Texas
Agricultural Extension Ser
vice. Also, the decline of the
value .of the dollar could help
give importers “bargain" prices
for U. S. wheat and thus
increase exports. The 1979
wheat program is similar to
that of last year and revolves
around a 20 percent set aside of
planted acreage.
