For Brotherhood
Believing in the Brotherhood of Man under the Fatherhood of God is one
of the underlying principles of the National Conference of Christians and

The National Conference of Christians and Jews, with a multi-purpose
program, really stresses each day as making the Brotherhood of Man a

The mystery of why
freshman Republican Sena-
tor Phil Gramm’s name was
omitted from a list of 63
senators who signed a letter
to President Reagan cau-
tioning him to consult with
Congress before making an
arms commitment to Saudi
Arabian King Fahd was
clarified Tuesday.
Washington dispatches
last week stated that
Gramm was the only one of
“the seven new members of
the U.S. Senate who failed
to sign the letter which
could have a serious impact
on U.S. agreements with the
Saudi Arabian monarch now
on an official state visit.
The six new senators who
signed the letter included:
Mitch McConnell, [R.-KY],
John Kerry [D.-MA],
Albert Gore [D.-TN], Tom
Harkins [D.-IA], Jay Rocke-
feller [D.-WV.], and Paul
Simon [D.-IL].
Phil Gramm’s name was
not on the advisory to the
President.
Gramm was accused by
some opponents of not being

Rabin said Israel has noti-
fied both the Lebanese
Government and the United

southern Lebanon, of the
withdrawal plans. Leban-
ese-Israeli talks at Noquira
in Lebanon concerning the
withdrawal have failed to
bring agreements and Israel
have notice of unilateral
action.
With fears being express-

will take place in the area
without its protection by the
Israeli Army, the Depart-
ment’s chief spokesman,
Bernard Kalb, said the
following in response to a
general question on Israel’s
withdrawal plan:
“The U.S. has repeatedly
expressed its concern about
the potential communal vio-
lence including anti-Palestin-

an Israeli withdrawal from
southern Lebanon. We urge
those responsible to insure
that appropriate measures
are taken to provide for the
safety of all the civilians in
the areas of South Lebanon
