There’s good news in store for the Dallas - Fort Worth
Metroplex! The Jewish Music Hall and its well-known
personable DJ Barry Somerstein will have their revival
on Sunday morning, October 9, from 9-12 noon on Station
KERA-FM [90 on your radio dial]. Through the efforts of
local newspapers, and the foresignt of Bob Ray Sanders,
KERA’s new station manager, who recognized the need
for various kinds of programming, the JMH will return to
the air with the same format. Barry Somerstein, his wife
Jody, 8, came to Dallas from Brooklyn, NY, in 1972.
Barry and Marcia missed the Jewish music they were
familiar with in NY, and thus the idea for the Jewish
Music Hall was born. From its genesis, it took two years
for the Jewish Music Hall to get its start. Rabbis Nissim
Wernick and Max Zucker both made a special appeal
from their pulpits on Rosh Hashana to help the JMH
return to the air. The Jewish Music Hall is available to
publicize the events of any organization. For information,
in Fort Worth contact 263-KERA, in Dallas 744-9010.
