This Saturday morning, February 15, history will repeat
itself at Shearith Israel Synagogue. Rabbi Jordan Of sever
will Bat Mitzvah fifteen ladies; among them will be Sunny
Shor. It will be almost “dega vue” for on May1962 Rabbi
Ofseyer’s first Bat Mitzvah was Michael Shor, son of Hal
and Sunny Shor. This is old stuff for the Rabbi, as he has
officiated at the Bar-Bat Mitzvah of three of the four Shor
children. When Jodi, the youngest of the Shor children was
ready to make her Bat Mitzvah, Rabbi Of sever left Beth
El-Kesser Israel in New Haven, Connecticut to assume the
position of Rabbi at Beth El in Springfield, Mass. The
Shors and Rabbi Of sever have a very unique situation, as
the Shors have been members of every Synagogue that
Rabbi Ofseyer has been affiliated with.

annual conference of the
National Rabbinic Cabinet of
State of Israel Bonds held in

el Bond campaign in 1986.
The goal is to surpass last
year’s record Bond sales of
$505 million in which the
Rabbinic Division played a
major role. The record sales
were achieved as Israel
carried forward austerity
measures which have suc-
cessfully reduced inflation
and stabilized the economy.
