IN OUR 47TH YEARI-FORT WORTH, THURSDAY, MAY20, 1993, TEXAS JEWISH POST 19 ArOUIlCl tt)G TOWtl
with Rene
Family and friends gathered to celebrate the April 29th Bar Mitzvah of Tripp
Miller, son of Mary Jane and Jack Miller, at Beth-EI Congregation. Pictured U
R are happy mother, Mary Jane Miller; Clarence and Betty Lusk, (maternal
grandparents of Waco); Ivan and Dona Miller, paternal grandparents and
beaming dad, Jack Miller. Tripp stands nextto his almost eightyear old sister,
Mary Elizabeth.
Among the many out-of-
town guests were great-aunt
Betty Marie Kohlhagen and
daughter Patricia Sawey of
El Paso, great uncle and aunt,
George and Iris Kerr of Hurst;
aunts, uncles and children,
Karen and Keith Zeff and
their four, Sarah, Benjamin,
Dana and Molly of St. Louis;
Betty Ann and Keith
Ferguson and youngsters,
Allen and Lauren and Linda
and Arb Stringer and chil-
dren, Shelly and Suzannah,
all of Waco.
Others were Jill and Danny
Govberg, Villanova, PA.;
Barbara and Leonard
Littman, Highland Park, N.J.;
Rose and Alan Zimmer,
Wilmington, N.C. Mike
Moretti, San Antonio; Nancy
and Bob Hughes, Claremore,
OK., Cantor Sharon Kohn,
and Dr. Ben Lemmons,
Houston.
The weekend was filled
with many nostalgic memo-
ries as the Miller - Lusk fami-
lies gathered to celebrate the
happy occasion. It seems like
yesterday that Karen Miller
Zeff was a teenager, but there
was her 20 year old daugh-
ter, Sarah Beth, a sophomore
at Emory University in At-
lanta, blessing the Sabbath
candles. When Trip Miller
made his Bar Mitzvah
speech, he cracked the audi-
ence up when he referred to
his mom and dad as he usu-
ally calls them as “maw” and
“paw.” Rabbi Ralph
Mecklenburger who deliv-
ered the charge to Tripp noted
that there were three genera-
tions sitting on the Bema,
Ivan J. Sr., Ivan Jack Jr. and
Tripp, number three.
Festivities marking the
weekend started on Friday
evening at an early Sabbath
dinner at the Fort Worth
Club’s Camellia Room.
Mary Jane and Jack Miller
honored their son at the Oneg
Shabbat following the Bar
Mitzvah Service. A Satur-
day poolside luncheon at the
Miller’s home had a Mexi-
can motif. That evening
cocktails and dinner at the
Fort Worth Club featured a
“Saturday Night Live” theme
complete with photographer,
magician, music by Lindy
and the Look while the teen-
agers had their own disc
jockey in a separate room.
Brunch on Sunday morning
at the Worthington Hotel in
the General Worth Room was
given by grandparents, Dona
and Ivan Miller.
It was indeed an occasion
to remember!

Press Notes: It’s been one
fabulous weekend after an-
other for Granbury residents,
Rosalie and Bud Schwartz.
They started in Kansas City
where they attended the Bat
Mitzvah of Sarah Sight,
daughter of Faye and Tommy
Sight and granddaughter of
Bea and Irv Levine and also
visited with former
ourtowner, Ruth Rashti. The
next weekend they zoomed
on to Atlanta where they at-
tended a surprise special
birthday celebration for
Rosalie’s sister Marilyn
Myerson. Last weekend
found Rosalie and Bud in
Houston where they visited
with their daughter and fam-
ily, Arlene and Jerome Levy
and rubbed shoulders with
Roumanian royalty, Princess
Margaritta. Rosalie attended
several luncheons, a dinner
and the gala with the prin-
cess who was in Houston to
attend the Children of the
World functions, which
benefitted handicapped Rou-
manian young adults. Rosalie
and Bud’s daughter, Arlene
Levy, who was chairman of
the gala on Magic Island, has
been invited on serve on the
International Board of Di-
rectors of Children of the
World. Also attending the
gala were Denise and Lewis
Schwartz, Danny Gachman,
Carol Lawrence and Diane
and Bart Menscher.
My all-too quick visit to
Florida last weekend where I
spent several days with Bea
and Irv Levine couldn’ t have
been more ideal. Even the
weather lent itself to make it
a perfect visit. Our trio vis-
ited with former ourtowners
Sylviaand Jerry Wolens who
couldn’t be happier in their
Bocca Woods home. Both
Sylvia and Jerry, who will be
here forthe Van Clibum, said
they didn’t move to Florida
to retire rather just to be closer
to their daughter and family,
Pam and Doug Neimand and
children. Jerry who has had
phenomenal success in fund
raising for the UJA in his
area told me that he was
Chairman of Super Sunday.
Last year some $400,000was
raised, this year with his early
hard work, more than
