A big evening is in store for the women ol ourtown when
day evening, February 15, eight o’clock to midnight at the Black-
stone (former Hilton) Hotel. Refreshments including coffee and a
delectable dessert are included in the admission of $1.25 per per-
son. Games will be varied and arrangements for tables and groups
may be made in advance or the same evening at the Hotel. Plan-
ning the event are co-chairmen, Bessie Berman and Adelle Fried-
man.
Barbara Weinberg will officiate when Idelle Luskey, chair-
man of the nominating committee, presents the new slate of offi-
cers. New 1962 Mah Jongg cards may be ordered from Rosalie
Weinberg at this time.
This Saturday morning at Ahavath Sholom Synagogue, a host
of family and friends will join with Shirley and Charlie Anton
in celebrating the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Robby. Among the
out of town guests expected are Mary Frances and Alan Antweil
and their youngsters of Hobbs, N.M.; the Reuben Antons and Abe
Antons and their children of Abilene; Mr. and Mrs. Abram Gins-
burg and family of Shreveport and Mrs. Adele Fritzel of Hous-
ton. Following, the Bar Mitzvah, the Antons will honor their son
at a Kiddush in the Synagogue Center to which all friends are
invited.

mine Tobolowsky of Dallas, this Wednesday morning,
the 14th, (Valentine’s Day) ten o’clock, at the home of
Doris Frost, 4308 Hildring Drive.
Mrs. Tobolowsky, one of Texas’ outstanding club
women leaders wiF be presented by Council’s Social
Legislation Committee. She is a past president of the
Business and Professional Women’s Clubs and presently
serves as chairman of Women in Government.
Refreshments will be served, of course, and guests
are invited, Bea Silver, chairman for the day, tells me.

PITTSBURGH, (JTA) — The
United Jewish Federation has
purchased Pittsburgh’s two
weekly Jewish community news-
papers — the American Jewish
Outlook and the Jewish Criter-
ion — and a new corporation is
being created to publish a suc-
cessor, Herman Fineberg, UJF
president, announced this week.
The new publication will be a
weekly c ommunity newspaper
carrying local, national and in-
ternational news, Mr. Fineberg
said, and will adhere to the high-
' est standards of journalism. It
will not be a house organ of the
Federation. It will be operated
by a board of directors consist-
ing of representative persons in
the Jewish community.
A definite starting date for the
paper has not been set, but it is
expected to commence publica-
tion early in March.
