Rep. Newt Gingrich
a trip to Israel. His remarks
will focus on the current situ-
ation as the peace process
unfolds. Congressman
Gingrich is in his eighth term
in Congress serving the Sixth
District of Georgia. In March,
1989, he was elected House
Minority Whip. As the sec-
ond-highest ranking Repub-
lican in the House, Congress-
man Gingrich has provided
invaluable help in mobiliz-
ing Republican support for
pro-Israel initiatives, includ-
ing foreign aid. With his lead-
Rep. Sam Coppersmith
ership, more Republicans
now vote in favor of foreign
aid than at any other time in
Congressional history.
The son of a career soldier,
Congressman Gingrich re-
ceived his bachelors degree
from Emory University and
his doctorate from Tulane.
He taught history and envi-
ronmental studies for eight
years before being elected to
Congress in 1978.

smith is a member of the

In addition, Representative

The American Israel Pub-
lic Affairs Committee is the
only American organization
whose primary mission is to
lobby Congress on legisla-
tion affecting Israel. Head-
quartered in Washington,
AIPAC is the nationwide
organization which, for
nearly 40 years, has worked
to strengthen U.S. Israel re-
lations.
AIPAC is registered as a
domestic lobby and sup-
ported financially by private
donations. AIPAC is not a
Political Action Committee
and does not rate, endorse or
contribute to candidates.
AIPAC works to ensure
vital financial aid for Israel,
to promote the ongoing Peace
Process, to combat sales of
sophisticated weapons to
Israel’s enemies, to promote
strategic cooperation be-
tween the two nations, to
improve trade relationships
and to develop sound U.S.
anti-terrorist policies.

to RSVP for the event, call

gional Development Direc-
tor, at 788-4919.
