The Hillel Foundation of Greater Houston will host a

Identity,.. The Quest for Jewish Community. A committee
of students from Rice University has been working dili-
gently, with the Jewish Campus Service Corps Fellow, over
the last few months to plan a Shabbaton of great caliber, the
first of its kind at the Hillel Student Center of Houston.

ments will lead the participants through the learning ses-
sions, which include such topics as Incorporating Pluralism
into Our Jewish Identity. Jewish Journeys, A Look at the
Present State of Conservative. Reform and Orthodox Juda-
ism and Jewish Life After College During one of tfic
sessions on Saturday, the Hillel Student Center will turn
into a Bel Midrash, a house of study, as everyone will pair
up to learn a portion of Talmud which teaches that the Torah
is ours to interpret. This is only one of the many exciting
programs taking place over the weekend.
Three rabbinical students, Shamir Caplan of Yeshiva
University, Miriam Cotzin of Hebrew Union College and
Adam Raskin of the Jewish Theological Seminary of Amer-
ica. will join Hillel for the weekend.

producer was trying to
build the suspense to hold
his audience. At times,
when Mrs. Willey was
Nilley and didn't come back on cue, Bradley interspersed
and got her talking again from her characterization, during
possible rehearsals, which suggested that this episode was
lurking in thecrevicesof her mind and driving her intoaquasi
depression and pronounced consternation.
This farce is like a feeding trough where the public gets
watered with tidbits of sensationalism and gossip It you want
to be scintillated read Jackie After Jack and you’ll get lull
blown connivance of how a professional goes after money.
Jackie Kennedy, beautiful as an 18th century royal mural,
was a post-20lh century guU digger and queen of them all.
Of ciHjrse that’s another part of the story.
The real story isn't whether Clinton had an eye for the
ladies. We all know that he just loves the opposite sex w ith
a long “o” in love. Should he be castigated for that to give
the mainly party a chance to bring him down through
resignation or a bill of impeachment?
That surely would be ironic.

world was a truly uplifting
experience for the girls. Each
felt better about herself and
her place within the family,
community and Judaism
At the March 25th Cele-
bration at Akiba, the girls
will each give a speech about
their names and speak about
a verse from the Torah that
includes a biblical figure
whose name is shared by the
Bat Mitzvah girl. Each will
speak about her hobbies, ac-
tivities, goals and dreams
for the future. They will talk
about their mothers and
s
rules everything they say and do. Rumors abound that Willey
has already been offered a $300,000 advance for a book
contract. Now all she’s doing is waiting for the publisher to
sign the contract.
Rumors are cropping, I i ke the early fickleness of a tornado,
that some of the national women's organizations are now
pceding up propaganda to join Mrs. Willey ’soffensive action
against the president.
We don’t know if they will carry much weight
Joe Klein, who probably scored more than $5 million from
his book and movie Primary Colors which opens nationally
Friday with John Travolta playing a Clintonesque character,
rolled in the dough by first parading as Mr. Anonymous.” That
was the way to get the tongues wagging and the public reading
and hyping the novel.
In truth it was a piece of make believe trash with only a
scintilla stolen characterise from Bill Clinton’s demeanor.
The entire idea was to make money regardless of what you
say or how you say it That’s why we have violence and
trash parading as entertainment and deceit encouraging
pliable youngsters to follow one ol negative mores ol "it
you can get away with it then do it as long as it brings in a
fast buck.”
about the mitzvot that arc
important in their lives.
Judy Scott, Robert Scott,
Akiba's Headmaster and
Linda Johnson, Vice-Presi-
dent of Education will
speak briefly about the im-
portance of what these
young Jewish women have
accomplished by participat-
ing in the program.
The celebrants will be pre-
sented with certificates of
completion of the B’not
Mitzvah course of study.
Family, friends, Akiba’s fac-
ulty, staff and Board of Di-
rectors are invited to a re-
ception honoring the girls
following the presentation.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch. Bill Clinton is still trying
to be the President of the United States of America. He’s
out there fighting for better education for his constituents
which means all Americans. He’s battling for a fair shake
#
for the elderly and also for children who go hungry and
have little or no medical attention. On top of this throw in
the intrigues of Saddam Hussein, the Iranians.Chincse and
a few Russian upstarts who want to sell nuclear bomM to
whomever can pay for them.
So, while he lakes a deep breath and sighs about life, love
and the difference between lust and adultery he may have
pecked the cheek or lips of Kathleen Willey in 1994.
But four long years and then for Willey to ride piggy-back
on Paula Jones’ own l ight for financial independence through
Bill’s possible amorous misdemeanors....?
Give us a break!
Kathleen and Paula and all others lurking in the shadows
would be wise to read how Jackie Onassis accomplished
financial independence.
Prize-winning author Christopher Anderson tells the vol-
atile story in Jackie After Jack. Jackie O’s mastery will
amaze you. It makes the current Willy-Nilly stuff look like
nursery rhymes

Q: Alyce, everywhere I go I see Oakley
sunglasses! Who is buying them and why are
they so popular?
A: Everyone is wearing them! Oakley was the
P first to introduce the “wrap". They are cool looking
sport glasses without the bulky look.
Q: Can you have prescription lenses put in
Oakleys?
A: Absolutely, and they give you great peripheral
vision! Where else can you get good looks,
durability, and excellent vision for sports.
Q: So, Oakleys are pretty much for athletes
then?
A s No way, Oakleys are great with any casual
look. You’ll see them at basketball games, on golf
courses, at cricket matches, or with everyday
blue jeans!
Q: In other words, Oakleys are a casual sport
accessory, like running shoes or visors.
As Yes, and of course you’ll find the best
selection at ADAIR OPTICAL home of OakleyI
