WITH CLARE
Miss Etta Jean Brand who began her B’nai B’rith carea*
as a charter member of the first B’nai B’rith Girls chapter
in Dallas was honored by B’nai B’rith Women last week
at a luncheon. The New District 7 Women’s president
was active with B’nai B’rith Youth in the Hillel program at
and \ersity of Colorado and Southern Methodist Univer-
sity In the 1950’s. In the 1960’s, she was a youth advisor here.
In B’nai B’rith Women she began as a charter member of
Starlight chapter in Dallas and served as chapter president in
1963-64. She was also Community and Veteran Service
coordinator, president of B’nai B’rith Women’s Council of
Dallas, and Texas State convention chairman.
Miss Brand is a former Sunday school teacher at Temple
Emanu-El and has been active in the Children’s Medical
Center, March of Dimes, and Cancer Drive and is also on the
boards of the Leo N. Levi Memorial Hospital, the Jewish
Children’s Home Service in New Orleans, and the B’nai
B’rith Home and Hospital for the Aged in Memphis.

Texas weather drew from it’s bag of tricks to lend a
surprise taste of Winter before pools were drained, coats
and blankets out of storage, and air conditioning converted,
but some folks found time for doing things convivial and
worthwhile.

given by the Zionist Organization
of America, Dallas chapter, at the
Fairmont Hotel on October 19. Mr.

Steinberg and Mrs. Sam Tannen-
baum leave October 25 for a Sister-
hood convention in Miami, Florida.
On conclusion Mr. Steinberg, and
Mr. Tannenbaum will join them
for a trip to Nassau to observe the
Steinberg’s 18th anniversary. Many
happy returns to all of the honorees

their 49th wedding anniversary, Oct

They will dine out that evening.

Sweet sixteen was the theme for
the birthday party of Miss Carol
Fleischer on October 15. Her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Fleisch-
er hosted a dozen of her friends
for a beautiful cake and dessert
party at their home, 4549 Melissa
Lane. October 24 they have reserva-
tions to continue the celebration
Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Klausner
were hosts to the families of grand-
son, David Freidberg at a Pid-Na-
Ben at their home, 14068 Brook-
crest, October 20. Young David is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie
Friedberg, 10205 Regal Oaks.
Dr. and Mrs. Albert A. Fox went
to New York October 11 to attend
the North American Dental Associa-
tion convention. Mrs. Fox represen-
ted the Dallas County Dental Auxi-
liary as their president. They also,
visited his sister, Mrs. Sara Fox
Tannenbaum at her new home on
Candlewood Lake, near New Mil-
ford, Conn. For the last two weeks,
Dr. and Mrs. Stuart Brown have
been happy hosts to his mother,
Mrs. Elsie M. Brown who came here
from a stay in Hot Springs, Ark.,
before returning to her home in
Hyattsville, Md.
Mrs. Natalie Kantor and sons,
Melvin and Alan, have returned frorr
a visit to New York where they
attended the Bar Mitzvah of her'
nephew, Jeffrey Alan Cohen. Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Lubar and Kathy
Nicole, of Washington, D. C. are
here for a 10 day visit with her
folks, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kaplan,

for a year in Nairobi, East Africa.

Kohn of the University of Texas
and his friend A1 Breen of Houston,
were here for the Texas-OU week-
end with his folks, Mr. and Mrs.

the cheering section with more
Texas students. Mike Furgatch, son
of Mrs. Joan Furgatch, brought
some of his ZBT fraternity brothers
for the game and a gala weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Liener were
hosts to Dr. and Mrs. Joe Harf of
Houston, who came to see Texas
defeat the University of Oklahoma.

plans for events during the approach-
ing festive season.
