New Name Touro
By Marian Masters
and Beth Rapfogel
Now that the name of Fort
Worth BBG No. 221 has officially
been changed to Judah Touro BBG,
we, the members, shall always re-
main faithful to the following
creed:
We promise to uphold all of the
virtues of Judah Touro.
Son to the first Rabbi in the
United States, Judah Touro was
profoundly faithful to his Jewish
heritage. We promise, also, to
maintain this faith.
As exhibited by his act of buy-
ing a bankrupt church and leasing
it back to the congregation “rent-
free, Judah Touro showed a great
respect for the beliefs of others.
We promise to follow his shining
example.
As Judah Touro was deeply in-
terested in his fellowman, so shall
we be. As he bequeathed, in his
will, a sum of money to every Jew-
ish congregation and worthwhile
chanty in this country, as he es-
tablished many institutes, such as
the Touro Infirmary in New Or-
leans, to ease the pain of men, we
shall always strive to aid others
with finances, personal services,
and moral support.
We, the members of Judah Touro
BBG No. 221, promise always to
work for the good of others, for
the betterment of our chapter, and
for the great B’nai B’rith Youth
Organization. As Judah Touro set
up many high goals and fulfilled
his purposes, so shall we.

for their immense hospitality.
A member of the staff of National Jewish Hospital at Den-
ver, famed, free, non-sectarian medical center for tuberculosis
and chest diseases, shows child patients how candles will be
lit to celebrate the Seder. Each year some 400 patients, mem-
bers of the Board of Trustees and of the staff, and community
leaders join in the observance. In innumerable instances non-
Jewish former patients who were deeply moved when they at-
tended their first Seder at the hospital seek invitations when
they happen to be in the area at this time of the year.
