The Jewish Community
Center of Dallas has the rare
opportunity to present an
original play just prior to its
opening in New York City.
“Choices-The Musical,” will
be presented by the Adult
Theatre Department in the
Zale Auditorium at the JCC,
7900 Northaven Road on
March 13 at 8 p.m., March
14, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
and March 21 at 2 p.m. and
7:30 p.m.
The boisterous song and
dance musical comedy about
a struggling young actor who
has lost his passion for living
and re-discovers it in the
mythical land of “Edentine,”
where choices are not an op-
tion, was written by
Dallasites Howard Danziger
and Michael A. Filak and
will appeal to people of all
ages.
Recently presented at an
ASCAP Musical Theatre
Workshop in New York,
“Choices” received excellent
critical reviews and finan-
cial backing for a New York
run beginning in either late
spring or early fall.
“Choices-The Musical,"
directed and choreographed
by David Larson, with musi-
cal direction by Will Varner,
will feature an outstanding
Dallas cast including David
Weinreb, Lori Lebow Cohen,
Ken Nelson, Carol Cohen
Glass, Eric Levy, Robert
Cager, Carole Cohen, Zelda
Mash, Shawn Mash, Flo
Wilson, Jerome Stein, liana
Tabaria, Peter Seymour,
Teddy Seymour, Janet
B uttimer, Henry Kliman and
Beth Yankuner as the “Purple
Droll.”
Special thanks are ac-
corded to JCC Adult Theatre
Committee chair, Flo Wil-
son, without whom, there
would have been no produc-
tion. Also acknowledged are
stage managers, Myra
Moskowitz and Janet
Buttimer and others who
have contributed to the pro-
duction including set de-
signer Jeff Salmon; lighting
designer, Brad Schiller; mu-
sical assistant Mimi Guten;
set construction chairper-

Holocaust Survivors, Second
Generation to Host Annual
Purim Ball at Shaare-Tefilla
The Holocaust Survivors
and the Second Generation
of Holocaust Survivors will
celebrate Purim with a din-
ner-dance at ShaareTefilla
Synagogue, on March 21.
The program will begin at
6:30 p.m. and will feature
cocktails, dinner and danc-
ing to the Dave Tanner Or-
chestra. Dietary laws will be
observed. Charge for the
event is $35 per person.
The evening will be capped
with the honoring of the vol-
unteer docents who provide
guided tours of the Holocaust
Center to students. Included
are Karen Cortell Reisman,
Gretchen Sween, Lea Rose,
Sol Kaplan, Rosalie Schiff,
Janos Nanasi, Mike Jacobs,
Gloria Price and Patty
Kmieciak.
Invitations will be sent to
all Survivors, Second Gen-
eration and Holocaust Cen-
ter Board members, but the
entire community is welcome
to attend. For more informa-

A program on “Domestic
Violence” against spouses,
children and the elderly in
the Jewish community will
be presented on Tuesday,
March 9, 7:30 p.m., at the
Jewish Community Center,
7900 Northaven Road.
A panel consisting of
Rabbi Howard Wolk, Con-
gregation Shaare-Tefilla;
Alison Cooper, Lawyers
Against Domestic Violence;
Sgt. Ches Williams, Family
Violence Unit Dallas Police
Department; Sharon
Obregon, Executive Direc-
tor of The Family Place; Su-
san Planick, Jewish Family
Service; and a survivor of
domestic violence will ad-
dress the issue and offer use-
ful information on what re-
sources and counseling are
available in the community.
The program is co-spon-
sored by American Jewish
Congress Commission for
Women’s Equality, Jewish
Family Service and Rabbinic
Association of Greater Dal-
las.
Victims, relatives, friends
and professionals are all
urged to attend. Subjects to
be addressed include re-
sources in the community,
how to detect signs of abuse
and legal procedures.
The program is free and
open to the Jewish commu-
