Cub Scout Pack 613 in the
Dallas area is in its second
year. The Pack has 25 boys
in first through fifth grades.
The Cubs have participated
in an overnight at the Sci-
ence Place, a week of day
camp at Breckenridge Park
and Daddy or Mommy and
Me weekends at Boy Scout
camps. Forthcoming activi-
ties include the Pinewood
Derby, Blue and Gold Ban-

lots of fun den and pack ac-
tivities. There is one Tiger
Cub den, first graders; two
Bear dens, second graders;
one Wolf den, third graders
and one Webelos den, fourth
and fifth graders. New scouts
are always welcome to join.
Third through fifth graders
are particularly needed. No
previous scout experience is
required.
The pack was started to
enable Jewish boys to par-
ticipate in Scouting while
respecting Jewish obser-
vance and kashruth. The
membership has representa-
tion from area temples and
synagogues. Shearith Israel
Religious School, the Char-
tering Organization, has been
very supportive in keeping
the Pack running. When the
boys graduate from the
Webelos den, it is a natural
progression to join Boy Scout
Troop729 atTemple Emanu-
El. Interested boys can call
Jeff Kogutt, Cubmaster, at
437-2093.

Men and women who will volun-
teer in the city-wide Mitzvah Corp
on Christmas Day deserve our rec-
ognition and gratitude. They give
countless hours at various hospi-
tals and institutions so that non-
Jewish workers will have the op-
portunity to spend their holiday
with their families. It’s a gesture of
goodwill and ecumenicalism in
which we can all take pride. The
Mitzvah Corps is under the auspices
of the Jewish Brotherhood of Dal-
las. Manpower chairman Dan
Morguloff is to be commended for
his work in this herculean task.
