Israel’s important citrus industry continues to grow and prosper with the aid
of investment capital derived from the sale of State of Israel Development
Bonds. Shown above are Israeli fruit packers in a Haifa warehouse preparing
a shipment of grapefruit for export to such countries as Turkey, England,
France and Holland. The citrus industry is Israel’s largest exporting enterprise.
During 1954, Israel exported 8,123,000 boxes of various citrus fruits, compared
with 5,323,000 boxes in 1953. Israel Development Bonds continue to be a
primary source of funds for the expansion of Israel’s economy.
