oldest living Jewish player, 82-

Steinberg, of Syracuse, N. ~Y.,
paid# him tribute on Dec. 7. In
a letter to this column, “Twis-
ter’’ wrote”
“For your information I am
being honored at a banquet at
the American Legion as Honor-
ary Commander of the Onanda-
ga County Veterans Organiza-
tion that I created soon after
World War H. I have been hon-
ored by the Spanish American
War Veterans Organization as
Surgeon General, U. S. W. V. P.
Dept. Commander and Post
Commander, which will be re-
cited tomorrow night.
“It’s nice to have the honors
now as a token from my com-
rades before Godi takes true a-
way. I have guided the above
organizations for 32 years as
their president and they say the
office will not be vacated until
my demise. They are loyal com-
rades and the rabbis say I
should stay on and on because
it is good for our people, Amen!”
