A recent ceremony at
the Hadassah-Hebrew
University Medical Cen-
ter in Jerusalem
honored the gift of a
Fund to equip a Surgical
Suite in memory of Lib-
by Yellen Geller, given
by her devoted husband
Abram L. Geller of
Houston and their chil-
dren and grandchildren.
Present at the ceremony
were Golda and Gilbert
J. Baker of Houston and
their daughter, Karen,
who lives in Israel and
Reba and Harry Swiff of
Dallas. Unable to at-
tend were the Gellers,
son, Dr. Jacob Geller of
Avon, Colorado, and an-
other daughter and her
husband, Devora and
Louis Rubin of Dallas.
The three Geller
daughters, Golda Baker,
Reba Swiff and Devora
Rubin are all prominent
leaders of Hadassah.
Also present were many
friends, relatives and
business associates of
the Geller family from
the United States and
Israel and members of
the staff of Hadassah.
Professor Shmuel
Penchas, Director-
General of the
Hadassah Medical Or-
ganization praised the
Geller family for their

Big Gifts Dinner Thursday

Geller family was a very

Jack Evans, Chief Ex-
ecutive Officer of Cul-

former Mayor of Dallas,
will be the recipient of
the Myrtle Wreath
Award, given to out-
standing persons who
have made distin-
guished contributions
to society in the
the fields of Health, Ed-
ucation, The Arts and
Community Service, at
the Dallas Chapter of
Hadassah Big Gifts Din-
ner on October 17. Mrs.
Bonnie Lipton, a mem-
ber of the National
Board of Hadassah will
be guest speaker.
Evans, a native of
Dallas, has a long
history of civic leader-
ship. He has served as
chairman of the United
Way campaign and
President of The United
Way of Metropolitan
Dallas. He has also been
President of the Texas
Merchants Association,
DFW Metroplex Food
Merchants Council,
Salesmanship Club of
Dallas and East Dallas
Exchange Club and
chairman of the Better
Business Bureau of
Dallas and the board of
Southwestern Christian
College. He has had
leadership roles in
Goals for Dallas, St.
Paul Hospital,
Children's Medical Cen-
ter, SMU School of
Business Administra-
tion, Dallas Coun-
ty Community College
District, Abilene Chris-
tian University and the
Joint Board of Park
Commissions of the
State of Texas.
Evans served the
Dallas Parks Foun-
dation, RepublicBank of
Dallas, and Scottish
Rite Hospital. He was
Chairman of the DFW
Airport Board, a post to
which he was elected by
the board. He was elec-
ted to the Richardson
School Board and was
president of the board.
He received the coveted
Linz Award in 1979.
Mrs. Lipton is a mem-
ber of the National
Board of Hadassah.
With over 385,000
members, Hadassah is
the largest volunteer
organization in the
United States. Curren-
tly, she is Chairman of
the National Major Gif-
ts Outreach Program
and National Co-Chair
