Engaged Ladies Auxilary To Observe
Brotherhood Month February 11
The Ladies Auxiliary will ob-ect of the local chapter of B’nai
serve Brotherhood Month at B’rith Women. Mrs. Sam Heir

Tuesday, February 11 noon, at B>nai B,rith Women.
Shirley Anton, Hadassah’s most able Education Chairman
tells me “Hadassah’s new study series is well under way and
those who attended are still talking about the recent exciting
discussion on “The Soul and Immortality.” The second of the
series will be held on Tuesday morning, Feb. 18, at 10:30 a.m.,
in the Temple Beth-El Library. The subject will be “Genesis
and Science” and this fascinating and provocative subject will
be presented by Mrs. I. E. Horwitz and Mrs. Leonard White. All
Hadassah members are invited to attend, we’re told.
Special plaudits due Mr. Philip Ellis who because of the ?ove
and esteem he holds for his wife, Fannie, recently gifted to Aha-
vath Sholom Synagogue a magnificent gift consisting of the fi-'j
nancing of the rearrangement and the refinishing of the small j
pulpits plus the presentation of the beautiful new large pulpits !
that adorn the Bimah at the Synagogue. Mr. Ellis also gave to \
the Religious School, in a special presentation before the entire
student body, a perfectly beautiful practice Torah.
In our Congratulations Department, we offer good wishes
for many more happy anniversaries to Mr. and Mrs. Seymour
Brescher who celebrated their 45th on Feb. 2 and to Rhoda and
Jack Perlman, who’ll celebrate their 25th Silver Wedding An-
pi versa rv on Feb. 19. Added good wishes to Marvin Tills, son
of Goldie and Joe Tills, who received his Bachelor of Arts De-
gree from the University of Kansas with majors in Industrial
Psychology and Personnel Management. The college set, reminds
your scribe that Brenda Labovitz, who’ll receive her sheepskin
from TCU this Spring, starts her practice teaching at Wedgwood’s
Bruce Shulkey Elementary School shortly. Houseguests of her
folks, Tillie and Marvin Labovitz last weekend were Cousins, Es-
ther and Harold Vexler of San Antonio who attended the Sulkin-
Wenneker wedding in Dallas on Sunday. Mrs. Vexler, by the
way, is Regional President of Council of Jewish Women.
Mrs. Bernard Rosenthal of the Westchester House is delighted
to have as her guest, her sister, Mrs. A. Eiseman, of Flint, Mich.
Faye and Leon Brachman were recent New Yo.rk visitors. Which
reminds your scribe, that visiting the Empire City last week were
the Dr. Irv Rapfogels and mother, Mrs. Lena Rapfogel. Doc Rap-
fogel has since returned to ourtown while the Rapfogel ladies are
expected home early next week. Speedy recovery wishes to Mrs.
Dorothy Rosenstein, I. Wolchansky. and Ira Goldstein, nine-year-
old son. of Jimmie and Mitchell Goldstein who is recuperating
from an emergency appendectomy. Lillian and Bob Savitz
thoroughly enjoying the visit of her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Sandler, of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., who are visiting here with the
Savitz family, enroute to California to visit with another daugh-
ter and her family.
Out-of-town guests have already started arriving for the Bar
Mitzvah of Alan Ray Rosenthal, son of Judy and Bob Rosenthal,
which will be held at Ahavath Sholom Center on Saturday, Feb.
15. Already here are maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Aaron
Moskovits of Philadelphia and arriving early next week will be
aunt and uncle, Shirley and Bob Ellis, all of Philadelphia. Texas
guests will include Mr. and Mrs. Dave Rosenthal and their
daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Sol Weiner, all of Hous-
ton.
Gloria (Mrs. Ben) Swann and twelve-year-old son, Jeffrey,
will leave this Saturday for Jackson, Miss., where Jeffrey will
be the guest artist with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra in a
concert at the Jackson Coliseum on Feb. 1. A seventh grade stu-
dent at Hurst Junior High School, Jeffrey is a scholarship stu-
dent at Southern Methodist University, where he studies with
Alexander Uninsky, artist-in-.residence. He was recipient of the
Mississippi Federation of Women’s Club talent scholarship last
Spring and has played concerts in Jackson and . Crystal Springs,
Miss., as well as in Arizona, where he was guest soloist with the
Northern Arizona Symphony Orchestra. This spring, he will be
presented in a recital by Southern Methodist University School of
Music. Jeffrey, resides with his parents, brother, Alan, 17; and
sisters, fifteen-year-old Susan and Julie, who is five, at 808
Russell Lane in Bedford. We are happy to add, that proud, proud
grandparents are Pauline and Sam Sheinberg of ourtown.

veston. Her fiance is a member
of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity
and was a member of Cowboys
at the University.
An April 26 wedding in Gal-
veston is planned with a recep-
tion following in the Grecian
Room of the Galvez Hotel.

TO HEAR TCU’s DR. SPAIN
The Senior Citizens Group,
sponsored by the Dan Danciger
Jewish Community Center, will
meet this Thursday afternoon,
Feb. 13, at 1:00 P.M. at Temple
Beth-El Center.
D.r. A. O. Spain, chairman of
the Department of History at
Texas Christian University will
speak on “The Alliance for Pro-
gress.” A musical program, and
social hour will follow. Re-
freshments will be served.

Federation Sabbath
At Ahavath Sholom
Rabbi Isadore Garsek will con-
duct Sabbath Serices and speak
on “Tomorrow is Now” — this
Friday evening, eight o’clock,
at Ahavath Sholom Synagogue.
This Sabbath has been designat-
ed as Federation Sabbath in
Fort Worth and is dedicated to
the Goals, Achievements and
Members of the Fort Worth
Jewish Federation. Cantor Shi-
mon Berris will chant the Ser-
vices.
Participants in the Services
will include Mrs. David Eisen-
man, opening prayer; Leo Lip-
[Shitz, responsive reading; Dr.
Abe Greines, open the Ark;
Louis Bockstein, close the Ark;
and Ella Brachman, closing
prayer. Frank Schumer and
Herbert Herzfeld will serve as
as ushers.
! The Ladies Auxiliary will be
hosts at the Oneg Shabbat fol-
lowing in honor of Cantor and
Mrs. Shimon Berris.

Mrs. Sylvia Perchikoff of Detroit. Leslie Kriesberg, daughter of
Jennie and Eddie Kriesberg has been named Student Director
for Paschal’s Vagabound Drama Club. In the news: Doris <Mrs. \
Paul) Labovitz and daughter, Patty, presented a fabulous song
and dance program “Two Tickets to Broadway,” for the Sixty-
Two Club at Colonial Country Club last week. Busy days for
Rabbi Garsek who has a full calendar of speaking engagements
this month including the review of “The Conversion of Chap-
lain Cohen at the Women’s Club; Westcliff Elementary PTA Club,
the 19th and another book reveiw on the 28th at The Elks Club.
On the club agenda, women and children, are invited to at-
tend the Men’s Club Lox and Bagel Breakfast this Sunday morn-
ing, 8:30 at the Synagogue Center. A very special program is in
the offing, we hear. I
