Celebrating the reeent designa-
tion of the last gap of the South
west Highway between Dallas and
Presidio as a State highway and
thereby, making the complete route
eligible! to be named as a Federal
highway, a inotorsade will leave
Dallas on the morning of July 34,
traveling to the Mexican border,
according to an announcement Fri-
day by W B. Marshall, chairman of
the Southwest Highway subcom-
mittee of the Dallas Chamber of
Commerce.
When the designation of the gap
in the righway between Fort Stock-
ton and Alpine^ was made by the
State Highway Commission some
weeks ago, the committee which has
been working lor ihe last year to
secure the project, decided upon the
motorcade as a means of expressing
their appreciation to the State De-
partmeni
The caravan will leave Dallas at
7 o'clock on the morning of July 24,
Short stops will be made at the cities
Dallas and Percldio, including Cle-
burne, Glen Rose, Stephensville.
Coleman, Ballinger, San Angelo, Big
Lake, Rankin anti Fort Stockton
The party will spend the first
night, at Browr.wood. Lunch the
following day will be in San Angelo

Association of Highway; Commis-
sioned meets.
For the first time the Association
which decides on the new federal
highways, will meet in Texas in Oct-
ober. The group of highway en-
gineers and commissioners from all
states in the Union will meet in Aus-
tin, and the citizens along the South
west highway are confident that they
will win their fight to have U. S.
highway 67, which now extends from
St. Louis to Dallas, extended on to
the Mexican border at Presidio.
Following the meeting Friday in
Fort Stockton, the travelers will pro-
ceed to Alpine and Marfa, spending
the night in the latter town. The
next' morning they will move on to
Presidio and spend port of the day
in tire Old Mexican town of Ojiivaga
They, will disband Saturday night at.
Presidio.
The Board of Directors of the
Coleman Chamber of Commerce will
meet On July 34 and at this time will
decide definitely as to i he Committee
from Coleman which will join this
motorcade as it comes through Coie-
