Edna (Eddie Johnson) Foster
March 3,1923- March 6, 2014
Edna (Eddie Johnson) Foster
Edna (Eddie) Foster, 91 ,of Clifton
formerly of Valley Mills passed away
Thursday, March 6, 2014 in Clifton.
Graveside services were Monday,
March 10 at the Valley Mills
Cemetery under the direction of Foss
Funeral Home and Cremation
Services.
Edna Eyrie Richardson was bom on
March 3, 1923 to Malvin and Sylvia
Richardson. She was a farm girl and
being the oldest was branded Dad's
"right hand man." Her three siblings,
Dixie Dean, Jay Lee, Kenneth Wayne
have all preceded her in death. To her
parents, brothers and sister she was
always called simply "Sister."
She married Robert Bruce (R.B.)
Johnson in 1943 while he was serving
in the Army Air Corps in the middle
of World War II. They had 50 years together before his death in 1993. They
had two children, Robert Earl (Bobby) and Mary Elizabeth (Beth). They will
attest to having the best parents God ever put on earth.
"Mama could plow a field, pick cotton, milk the cows and have dinner on
the table when Daddy came home from work. And ... look like a movie star
that evening!" To her friends, everyone knew her and called her Eddie.
Friendship to her meant something. Across this country there are many people
that were taken into her home, lived there for a day or months; people given
financial help or simply a hand up when they needed it simply because Eddie
Johnson thought it was the right thing to do.
Eddie Johnson was absolutely the least judgmental person I ever knew.
Whatever the situation you were in, no matter the color of your skin or where
you came from, she would help you. Fifteen years ago she met and married
her second "Love of her Life" and became Mrs. Calvin Foster. What a
wonderful man and what a love affair. He called her "Tweety Bird" and my
children called this pair "Moe-Moe and Grandpa Cal."
A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, she was a person who lived her
faith. Everyone that came into Edna Eyries life was better for it. To her parents
and siblings she was "Sister." To my father R.B., she was "Big Red." To her
friends she was "Eddie," and to her husband she was "Tweety Bird.".But to
Beth and I she was simply "MaMa" and we shall miss her terribly.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin Foster of Clifton; a son, Bobby
Johnson and wife Inday of Oregon; a daughter ,Beth Powers of Oregon; four
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Please join us in remembering Eddie by visiting our guest book at
