Lillian Lemke-Jacoway to hold
collage workshop June 17-18
Lillian Lemke-Jacoway's collage, "OP Tyme Religion"
Students will need to choose a
subject matter of interest to them.
"Mine will be 'family.' I
willbeusing oldfamily photos and
related items, such as portions of
handwritten letters, small personal
items, etc.," she said.
"Because of thenostalgia of this
subject, my collage will be in vintage
hues (sepia, ecru, etc.).
Suggestions for studentsubject
matter may include a family pet,
children, masterpiece paintings, etc.
A working definition for the French
word "collage" is "papier
application."
The process for this collage
willinclude overlapping layers of
images, papers, items, etc. Small
images work well with anyunusualor
exoticpaper or fabric pieces, such as
unryu, other kozo fibers, and light
cotton to create an original work.
Items of 1/4" in thickness, or less,
work best.
Lillian Lemke-Jacoway
"The goal in this workshop is to
make a family treasure," she said.
"No painting skills are required. This
is a verypersonalwork,and the
finished piece will be unique to each
artist."
Emphasis will be placed on the
focalpoint (area ofgreatestinterest),
composition (arrangement of shapes),
and color coordination (bright
ormuted, subtle or bold).
