Special guests of Joplin
Baptist Church on Sunday,
Dec. 19, were Mick and Da-
lese Stock well and their fam-
ily. Dalese is the daughter of
Billie Inez and Dale Woodard
of Wichita Falls, and she is
the Southern Baptist Conven-
tion. Mick gave testimony
concerning their mission ac-
tivities and the vast need that
remains in those regions.
Dalese presented the church
with a beautiful etched crys-
tal globe of the earth from
the Czech Republic. The
Montgomerys then hosted a
fabulous lunch for the mis-
sionaries before they traveled
to Fort Worth to visit Mick’s
family. Prayers go out for
these missionaries and for all
the lives they touch.
Miss Alexa Mask sang
“Mary Did You Know?” dur-
ing the worship time at Joplin
Baptist Church on Dec. 19.
Alexa is the granddaughter
of Jack and Chett.
Joplin.
Jack and Chetta led many
from the church caroling on
Saturday, Dec. 18. They vis-
ited Jacksboro Nursing Cen-
ter and Graystone Manor.
They then went to homes in
the Joplin area and delivered
Christmas baskets to those
unable to go to church.
The band of angels from
Joplin Baptist Church then
delivered the amazing boun-
ty of “pounding” foods and
gifts to the adopted Christ-
mas Tree family where there
was much thanksgiving and
tears. The night ended well as
the little band of pilgrims en-
joyed pizza and remembered
the joy of Christmas that they
help spread to others.
In the dimly lit sanctuary
of Joplin Baptist Church that
exhibited the beautiful life-
size manger scene along with
decorated trees, bushes, and
the starlit heaven, the miracle
of Christmas was presented
by “Witnesses.”
The Angel Gabriel, played
by Kailey Shaw, told the
Christmas story from Ga-
briel’s point of view. Mary,
played by Mia Smith, and Jo-
seph, played by Kaleb Bell,
gave their testimonies and
sang “O Little Town of Beth-
lehem” with Gabriel.
Makenna McAnear had
worked so hard on her part
as the shepherd; however,
an acute illness kept her at
home. Alexa Mask came in at

Happy New Year everyone.
These years just seem to fly
and the older one gets, the
faster they fly. Many things
have happened in 2010 but
mostly my life has just tod-
dled along as usual.
Dec. 23, our area had a good
three inches of rain which
was very much appreciated.
Now we can see the tracks in
the earth again and can tell
what animal has been in the
yard.
Mitchel ,Brandin, Parker,
Brittney, and Carter came to
ty house from Troy on the
.ght of Dec. 25 and spent the
next two days riding over the
river and through the woods
on the four wheelers and
traveling the country road
to my mother’s old house to
hunt.
They enjoyed the beauti-
ful warm weather we had at
that time. Carter took his bow
and hunted in the creek bot-
tom for squirrels without any
Sawyer of luck, but it was fun for him.
He went to the deer stand in
the field and sighted a deer

I visited Carol Turpin and
enjoyed Christmas dinner
with her in her beautiful
mountaintop home. I warmed
by the wood fire in the fire-
place which was fun for me.
Sheila and I were dinner
guests of Bill and Penny Cy-
pert and their children, James
of Houston and Penny of Fort
Worth on Christmas Eve.
Visiting friends and sharing a
meal is great.

The Scarbers, Renfro, Mar-

Christmas in their home on

were Vicky and John Thomp-

a very stress-filled time for
everyone. It seems we all
have to compete with every-
one else on gifts and things.
You know it is not about
gifts. I think gifts should be
for kids. Adult gifts are just a
plus. A lot of churches had a
beautiful candlelight service.
In a small church I am sure
it is still candles. My kids go
to a very big church in the
metroplex and the fire chief
there makes them use glow
sticks. I found this interesting
but I also understand as they
have hundreds of members.

times and it was a little stress-

cooked a wonderful meal.
Folks, it is not the food or
gifts but the love and caring
that matters. A family, once
grown, is very different. Each
family has their own tradi-
tions, but it is coming togeth-
er with love that is important.
If you failed to call your
family because of some hurt,
real or imagined, give them
a call and tell them you love
them. Those three little words
