Phinney said the city will have no
comment on the subject until after
the lawsuit is actually filed.

lish rules and regulations related to

Prior to the vote, Paries and

Keep America Beautiful campaign.
The ordinance includes creation
of a Tree Board which will regulate
the planting and maintenance of
street trees (trees, shrubs, and any
other woody plant on land lying be-
tween property lines on either side of
all streets, avenues or ways within
the city, park trees, and visibility tri-
angles.
The council also passed:
—An authorization of First
Southwest Company to proceed with
document preparation for contrac-
tual obligations as authorized by the
statues for thepurchase of specified
budgeted items in the 1989-90 an-
nual budget, 74)
—Ordinance C-402, retaining
the tax on certain goods while in
transit foregoing the freeport exemp-
tion as authorized in the 1987
constitution amendment election, 6-

7-0 with Mike Beard and Richard
Lowe abstaining on item If, Ordi-
nance C-401, authorizing the city to

Olde Towne lights up, too
After you've been to the community Christmas Tree Lighting
Service on Dec. 5, enjoyed the mayor's address and entertainment, and
the turning on of the bee lights, and then after you've taken the children
down to the Hie hall for a visit with Santa Claus, don't forget you're very
close to another area which is also turning on its Christmas lights
(andholiday spirit) the same night—Olde Towne Burleson.
Come on down to Bailey's One Main Place and Wood Shopping
Center, where beautiful Christmas lights will be twinkling, Santa will
be rocking in his chair and telling special stories, and merchants in the
various shops will be dressed in clothing of former eras.
There will be hot apple cider, popcorn, and hot dogs at Olde Towne
shops and candy canes for the children. Stop by, continue your
Christinas spirit development, and see what's 'cooking' in Olde Towne.
