Parenting series is free rjjFs^L.
The staff at Charter Hospital in pm. Eugenia Andrews, MSW, your children’s understanding and while the workshops are free ^ (III)
south Fort Worth knows that
f being a parent is a difficult iob,
: possibly more difficult now than
l in any other era of recent
history.
They want to help. In order to
| increase understanding of pro-
s' blems and solutions in families
of today's society, and to help
' foster skills in the difficult job of
* parenting, the hospital has in-
vited professionals to discuss
; matters and issues pertinent to
* you and your family. "Families at
; Risk: Free Summer Parenting
; Series” begins June 23 and runs
' through Sept. 29.
Charter Hospital is a new
facility, located at 6201 Overton
Ridge Boulevard in Fort Worth,
and operational for about the
last six months. The series of
workshops is being offered free
through the summer and into the
fall. Workshops are scheduled to
last from one and one-half to two
hours, with plenty of time for
questions and answers from
participants.
The June schedule begins with
a class on "Single Parenting,”
tomorrow night (June 23) at 7
CSW-ACP, will be conducting
that workshop. She’s a licensed
advanced clinical practitioner
who offices in Cleburne. An-
drews writes a regular advice
column, "Dear Eugenia," which
is published in area newspapers,
including the Burleson Star.
Andrews says that being a
single parent in today's society
can be overwhelming. This
workshop will give the single
parent essential coping skills and
parenting strategies. It will ad-
dress your specific questions and
help you deal with increasing
when you begin dating.
On Tuesday, June 30, also at 7
p.m., the second June workshop
is scheduled. It’s entitled "Help!
My Child's Turning Into A Teen!"
Beverly Runyon of the Parenting
Guidance Center will be leading
that workshop.
Early adolescence is a time of
decision making and change.
This workshop will help parents
know what they can expect of
their teen and how to keep the
lines of communication open.
The series of classes will be
conducted at Charter Hospital,
orkshops are free
to the community, reservations
are necessary. Call 292-6844 if
you plan to attend. Registration
and refreshments will begin at
6:30 p.m. for each workshop.
Additional workshop subjects
for July include "Teens and
Suicide,” "How to Talk so Teens
will Listen," "Substance Abuse
Awareness: Stages of Addiction,"
“Children and TV: What’s the
Verdict?” and "Roles in the
Chemically Dependent Family
and the Family System.” Watch
for further information on those
seminars in July.
