finisher last year, grabbed
opening-game victories.
Also victorious were South

Baptist (0-1).
St. Ann’s Catholic (0-1)

First Christian (1-0) and
Church of Christ (1-0).
St. Matthew Presbyterian
(0-1) and Calvary Baptist
(0-1).
Seventh-day Adventist
(1-0) and First Baptist No. 2
(1-0).
A few regular matches and
some make-up games still
remain to be played but the
season is over for most
teams.
In the girls’ division, the
Under-8 Granbury Daisies
were the only non-Burleson
team to take first place
honors. Burleson’s Bombers
took second place by down-
ing the Ladybugs 2 to 1. The
Bombers, being the first
place local team, will now go
to the Tournament of Cham-
pions in Dallas.
The l/d|$r-10 Silver
Bullets collected three, wins
over the weekend, dn Satur-
day, the team defeatoi the
improved Red Hots 5 to 1 in a
very good match which was
much closer than the final
score would indicate. On
Sunday, it was learned that
the Everman team which the
Bullets were to play twice
this week had decided to
forfeit both games, thus giv-
ing the Bullets the divisional
championship. The second
place Yellowjackets downed
Everman 7 to 0 on Saturday
and picked up a second win
by forfeit over the same
team. The players were
disappointed at not being
able to play these games but
the Everman under-10 team
was not able to retain enough
players to field the minimum
eight players required under
league rules.
The Under-12 Cobras won
two more victories and earned
the divisional championship.
On Saturday, they blasted
Mansfield 6 to 0 and in Sun-
day’s game, they edged a
stubborn Everman team 3 to
2. The Cobras remain un-
beaten and untied with one
game remaining.
In the Under-14 girls’ divi-
sion, Burleson’s Bandits won
the championship by down-
ing the determined Cleburne
Sting 2 to 1 in a very close
match. Meanwhile, the
Burleson Kickers punished
Everman 9 to 0 to remain in
the running for second place.
The Bandits and Kickers
finished one and two locally.
The Bandits will represent
the city in the upcoming
Tournament of Champions
on Dec. 5 and 6. In Sunday's
only game, the Crowley
Queen of Harts downed
which no actual champion is
named. All participants earn

In the Under-10 division,

improved Texans but won
the championship because
they have lost only one
game. Second place will be

Strikers 4 to 0. In Sunday
games, the Texans shot
down the Bombers 2 to 0, the

The Under-12 age group
saw several critical games,
the outcome of which com-
pletely changed the final
standings. By virtue of a
forfeit win over the Crowley
Hawks, the Cosmos moved
into first place when the
Demons downed the Rough-
necks 3 to 1 on Saturday.
This dropped the Rough-
necks into a tie with the
Demons for the number two
position and set the stage for
a head-to-head play-off
game on Sunday. In that
game, the Demons managed
to defeat the Roughnecks l to

its 3 to 2 game with the Arl-

gave up two quick goals in
the final minutes of the se-

Rowdies continued to im-
prove their record by edging
a strong Arlington team 3 to

played game which featured
an excellent passing attack
and very impressive goal-
tending. The Rowdies also
downed Irving 3 to 1 in a
night game last Thursday.
With only a few games on
tap for this Saturday, the
divisional champions are
gearing up for the Tourna-
