House needs new director
A search committee comprised of Burleson Ministerial Alliance
Auxiliary (BMAA) board members is seeking a very special person-
one who is familiar with social concerns ministries.
A new Harvest House director will be hired to replace Cathy
Coghlan. The former director has returned to school to complete her
masters degree; currently the Harvest House is being handled by an
interim director.
The search committee hopes for lots of applicants for the very im-
portant position of Harvest House director. The board of directors
will make the final selection from the committee's recommendation.
Qualified applicants will be professionally concerned persons with a
working knowledge of the many aspects of the job: grant writing;
training and working with volunteers; preferrably experience working
with fellow Christians in the area of social concerns.
The Harvest House is the agency headquarters for the BMAA, a
ministry led by representatives of a number of Burleson churches—
people who bring their talents and resources together to serve deserv-
ing local p
all kinds.
local people in need of food, clothing, and Financial assistance of
A highly motivated and ethical person with a flexible schedule
would best fit the needs of the directorship, according to the search
committee. The director will be working with the Burleson Minis-
terial Alliance; enjoying working with fellow Christians is a must for
the position. Being involved in community affairs would also be
a plus.
The agency has„a large work load $nd a growing ministry in
Burleson. Food, clothing, and financial help are provided for
qualified applicants the year-around. Special programs are also part
of the BMAA goals: the Holiday Friends project at Christmas, and the
Little Red Schoolhouse back-to-school assistance project.
Resumes should be sent to the BMAA, P.O. Box 1113, Burleson
before Aug. 1. Computer knowledge would be helpful in handling the
duties of the 30-40 hour per week position.

Convertor box is unreasonable
As a subscriber to Sammons
Cable Service, I find the ad-

wants to add to my television set
as totally being unreasonable.

will you have to have their con-
trol but will also have to buy or
pay a mpnthly rental fee for
that privilege.
I have also been informed that
it will cause restrictive use as far
as recording on one station while
watching another.
Does the City of Burleson have
an exclusive contract with Sam-
mons, or is it possible to have
another choice of cable ser-
vice?
Because of this, I am cancell-
ing my subscription and having
the cable service removed from
my home. I hope other sub-
scribers will follow suit and do
the same. I feel a change is
necessaiy in who provides cable
service to our area and one that
will not dictate what type of con-
trols I must use with my televi-
sion and VCR equipment.
I plan on using the local video
shops for movie entertainment. It
will be more economical to rent
movies from the video shops and
support them instead of paying
Sammons’ monthly fees.
I feel that the consumers of
Burleson are getting ripped off by
Sammons and I hope that the
members of this council will look
into this matter further.

Help with key search
Wednesday, July 20, I lost my
keys at Captain D’s of Burleson.
After a thorough search of the
restaurant, the employees took
the time to go through two bags
of garbage.
The
leir time and effort in trying
to find my keys was greatly ap-
preciated. My thanks to Martha

Weeds dangerous
I have called City Hall about
the weeds.on the comer of Spr-
ing Meadow and Alsbury. They
say they don’t know the owners,
but the section of weeds of con-
cern are on the city’s 10 feet of
right of way.
Someone is going to have a
bad accident there and the city
will be liable, as you have to pull
out in one lane of traffic in order
to see to the north. I have seen
several near misses on this
comer.
