Girls Get Make-Up Tips
BY LINDA HAAS
I RECEIVED news from Cadette Troop 369 recently
telling of very special outing to the home of Kim Martin.
Jayne Smith of Mary Kay Cosmetics gave each girl
acomplimentary facial and numerous make-up tips to
achieve that “natural” look. Several of* the moms attend-
ed for some tips of their own and all had a great time.
Refreshments were served by Iris Martin and the Red
Velvet Valentine cake was beautiful.
This outing brought to an end the Good Grooming badge
and Social Dependability Challenge preps. The girls had a
great time with all the different people contributing to this
challenge and will use the information they received for
many years.
Angela Pippen, Amy Ply, Pam Mercier, April Steed,
Peggy Jarvis, Kim Martin, Michelle Roberts, and Krista
Perez have spent a great deal of time working on this
Challenge. I know each will benefit greatly from their
study.
BROWNIE TROOP 221 has an outing to the Bus Barn
planned and I am looking forward to hearing how much
the girls learned. They have been very busy working on
crafts and finishing their requirements on their Brownie
patches and I am very excited that they also find time to
take those “special” trips. I am sure other Brownie troops
are very active and I am anxious to hear from them. (Con-
tact me for forms if you do not have any)
CADETTE TROOP 330 is starting their Emergency
Preparedness Challenge. Last week they worked on Home
Nurse badges and it was a real experience for all. Taking
and reading the temperature went very well, and counting
the pulse was not a real problem but counting the respira-
tions was real cute. It would help if the patient would quit
laugh ting.
We discussed how to make a sick room comfortable and
provide all the things a person would need if they were
sick. Then the girls learned how to turn a patient who
could not help themselves. Ruby volunteered to be the pa-
tient and the girls were very enthusiastic. So much so that
they nearly rolled her off the bed. There’s no denying they
could turn a patientl After some special instruction they
found they could move and turn someone all by
themselves and not cause the patient any discomfort. Be-
ing ill is no fun but with help it can be more bearable.
DON’T FORGET Neighborhood is coming up very soon
and I urge everyone to attend. The meeting will be March
7 and we want everyone to be there for the final plans for
the Father Daughter Banquets. (Service Team meeting is
Feb. 29 at 9(30).
What is your troops working on and where have they
been? Write me. Linda Haas 213 S.E. Robert.
Mike Seay was ringDearer.
For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Doty chose a floor-
length gown of Salmon Chiffon with matching accessories.
Mrs. Poteet chose a floor-length gown of orchid with mat-
ching accessories. Their corsages were orange carna
tions.
A reception was held following the ceremony in the
Fellowship Hall. The three-tier cake was decorated in
orange and brown. Mrs. Jean Murray, Teresa McAnally
and Sheila Doty served. Monica and Jessica Carr handed
out rice bags. Mrs. Shirley Doty, aunt of the bride, was at
the guest register.
The bride is employed by Leisure Lodge in Cleburne and
the groom is employed by Cable-Tex.
The couple will make their home in Cleburne.
