BY CARLA POMMERT
The focus of the Burleson
Police Department investigation
into the Jan 11 alleged robbery/
abduction of Burleson business-
man 'J.C Ware has shilled "away
Irom the abduction and toward
Mr Ware," according to Burleson
Police Chief Keith Rippy.
Ware was reportedly robbed
and abducted at gunpoint Irom
his appliance company located at
tlu Basden Pla/a by two men
and forced to drive his pick-up
toward Fort Worth. Shortly
thereafter, Ware said his hands
were tied and he was blindfolded
arid put in a van.
He told The Si.ir that he was
held captive in the van while the
kidnappers drove continually lor
three and a half days. According
to Ware, the kidnappers finally
dropped him off under a bridge
on I-10 about a quarter of a mile
from downtown Mobile, Ala.
Ware said he walked to a
nearby business and called
police who picked him up, took
him to the police station, asked
him questions, and eventually
drove him to the airport for Ins
flight home on Jan 15.
Burleson Police interviewed
Ware on the afternoon of the
1 5lh and again on Jan. 20 arid
21 On Jan. 26, the police depart-
ment released the following pre-
pared statement

‘ BEING ADVISED of
thest developments, Mr Ware
refused to discuss further any
part of his disappearance He has
retained an attorney to represent
him m tins matter At this point,
the Burleson Police have no
re.is.m to believe that Mr W'arc
was either robbed or abducted
I tie Burleson Police Depart-
ment, with assistance Irom the
_ountv District Attor-
ney's office and the FBI is con-
tinuing its investigation into
this matter "
Ware declined to speak to The
Star, referring all questions to
Burleson attorney Robert Wilson
Wilson told The Star that Wart-
had retained him as counsel
when "it became obvious frortV"
the point of questioning that tlit
police didn’t believe h-m ’
Wilson said his lirrn sent the
police department a letter statin® /
that they are not to question^/
Ware any further without the
presence of his atlornev
Our official response is that
