recently received one of the
highest honors given by the
American Heart Association.
Meyer is the recipient of a 1989
Distinguished Service Award for
excellence in supporting the mis-
sion of the American Heart
Association.

teers throughout the Fort Worth

Defensive
driving
course set
A Defensive Driving course has
been scheduled on Saturday,
August 12, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., in
room 113 at Burleson High
School. The course is approved
by the Texas Safety Association
and may be taken in lieu of pay-
ing a traffic citation as provided
by state law. Persons completing
the course may receive a 10% dis-
count on auto insurance pre-
miums for a period of three
years. The Defensive Driving
course teaches you to recognize
collision causing situations and
learn the defensive actions to be
taken to avoid accidents.
Register for this class through
the Burleson Community Educa-
tion office, 517 S.W. Johnson
Avenue. Registration fee is
$20.00. For additional informa-
tion, call 295-7396.
Oldest High School Drama Workshop
For the past 37 summers, high school thespians have been flocking to the
Southwest Texas State University campus in San Marcos to hope their
acting skills at the annual High School Drama Workshop sponsored by
the Theatre Arts Department. Stuidents hear lectures by each SWT
theatre arts faculty mem ber in his specialty, attend acting and movement
and choreography classes as well as rehearse for the seven one-act plays
being performed during the two-week workshop that ended July 28.
Getting some pointers from choreographer Lisa Tyler, a SWT junior
acting major, was Burleson High School senior Tracy Donauho,
daughter of Vince and Pat Danauho.
