ques. The full skirt fell to a
chapel length train, all edged
with more lace appliques.
She wore a fingertip-length
tulle veil, flowing softly from a
spray of white lily-of-the-valley
worn in her hair. Red and white
silk roses interspersed with En-
glish ivy formed the bridal
bouquet.

BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE
In youth, I thought my nose too big,
But soon, I grew to love it;
When I looked out, and saw the view,
I had from up above it.
Then, when I thought I spoke too slow;
It saved me from disaster:
I might have married—"What’s her name”
If 1 spoke any faster.
And now I’m losing all my hair;
At first that seemed appalling.
But I have lost my hearing, too,
So I can’t hear it falling.
My memory’s shot, but even that’s
A blessing, won’t you say;
I’d ramble on, but I forgot
What else I meant to say.

FIRST LOVE
Shyly, she entered my humble room,
Bringing the alow from a paling moon,
And the half heard strains of a haunting tune.'
In this drab chamber it all took place;
With beauty, unequaled, on her face,
And Black hair falling, against white lace.
' . -
I knew what I gathered within my arms;
Trustingly close-enticing-warm -
Could be no less than an ethereal form.
Madly, I let my wild thoughts soar:
This was a love, I knew-and more
Than Poe ever felt for his own Lenore.
This was no time for a thought of hist-
Though I was tempted, now T must
Honor her innocent, childish trust.
I must have slept, for I feel a yawn,
And find I’m alone in the gray of dawn-
Wks she only a dream?-No;-my wallet's gone!
